Bowman has been pretty braggadocios about this and I hope that’s not AA being braggadocios by proxy.

I hate being lied to. I mean I know they don’t care and this is how the world works blah blah blah but don’t tell me you’re gonna be players and you’re gonna increase payroll/use prospects and not do it while other teams in your division get better.

We got maybe better at 3B and worse at catcher. Haven’t made a ML pitching move. So frustrating.

The only good news about Realmuto: Two things.

1) Doesn’t seem like Philly is confident they will get Machado or Harper

2) Realmuto makes the Phillies better but not like Alfaro was bad last year. I don’t think it improves that much unlike where it would really help the Braves.

Agreed. ...and don't forget the aging corner OF and shaky closer situation. We knew Machado and Harper weren't happening and you can't fill every hole, but it makes no sense that we haven't made more than 1 big move.

I get them not spending much money and never really expected it to happen. But they are wasting these assets by not trading some of them. Odds are half these guys turn to ****. Have to capitalize when their theoretical value is highest.

I think Keith Law just said the Phillies think getting JTR makes them more enticing to either Harper or Machado.

I’m not too concerned about the bullpen because I think the talent is there and you can always improve that during the trade deadline.

The fact they resigned Markakis because it was a “bargain” instead of spending real money or using prospect capital has me livid. If Fried wins the 5th starter spot we got Touki, Soroka, Wright, Wilson, Gohara, Allard that could all be on the big league club PLUS Wentz, Muller, aerogel, and Anderson right behind him. We got a logjam, why we just sitting with them wasting innings in the minors?

****ing wonderful then. We might finish fourth in the division now

I’m not sure that isn’t a fair result, to be honest. We overachieved last year because the Nats and Mets underachieved. Assuming they fix *most* of their issues, it was always going to be a tight battle regardless of how much we spent.

Could easily see a scenario where the 4th place team is 3 games back from 1st at the end of the year.
