The '92 Florida game was such a memorable one

Quick question to a lot of folks here. I have seen many people post on here in the past several years about the 1990 and 1992 games.

Did you all really hate Florida at that point or did that come later? I ask because at the time, we hadn't played a lot, Florida had not proven to be a thorn in Tennessee's side, etc. Or, is it something you look back on with greater fondness as a result of playing each other for 30 years now.

Just curious.
From what I recall, the Vols put a beating on the Gators in ‘90 and then the following year were treated badly in Gainesville.... fans, players, coach’s wives.... Fulmer’s wife was spit on..... then ‘92 rolled around and the Vols fans were angry. I still can see all the plastic cups filled with rainwater being hurled at the Florida bench. It was relentless.... If I’m not mistaken the following year the SEC changed the rules regarding where the student section is versus the opposing team’s bench due to this.

We have very good friends that went to that game in Gainesville. Their fans were despicable. That game started a precedent for their fan behavior towards our team, fans, and band that continues to this day. It is completely understandable why Vols fans hate the Gators - win or lose. They've earned it.
