After navigating a tough postseason run that ended in the second round against Oakland last year, the Bears look to assert their dominance in Tennessee's grueling Region 2-6A. Media consensus points to a highly competitive squad, with local predictions slotting Bradley Central at 3rd in the region behind Maryville and Oak Ridge.

Season Outlook & Identity
  • Trenches Lead the Way: Coach Floyd noted that the team will lean heavily on their offensive and defensive lines early on. While they lack a high number of returning starters, the group is composed of seasoned, close-knit upperclassmen.
  • Defensive Baseline: Last season, the Bears held 10 of 12 opponents to 21 points or less. They must maintain that physical identity to combat high-powered 6A offenses.
  • The Target in the Region: Dethroning perennial region powerhouse Maryville remains the primary goal.

2026 Team Captains

  • Tucker Cook (QB)
  • Padon Parker Price (RB/QB)
  • Deonte “Tay” Lindsey (WR/DB)
  • Jayvon James (TE/LB)
  • Zack Denton (OL/DL)
  • Nick Veliz (OL/DL)

A chaotic Week 1 edition of Tennessee's second-oldest high school football rivalry ended with the McMinn County Cherokees holding off a furious late rally by the Bradley Central Bears.

Despite a lengthy lightning delay and Bradley Central dominating time of possession (25:46 to 14:36), McMinn County’s big-play offense proved to be the difference, out-gaining the Bears 385 to 268 in total yards.

The Bears rallied back from an early 13-0 deficit. They completely shut out Red Bank in the second half while scoring the decisive touchdown in the third quarter to secure the one-point victory. Red Bank staged a desperate last-minute drive, but a dropped pass in the end zone on fourth down sealed the win for Bradley Central.

Oak Ridge defeated Bradley 47-27 last Friday.

  • Fast Start: Oak Ridge built a massive four-touchdown lead in the first half.
  • Bears Rally: Bradley Central outscored the Wildcats 27-20 in the second half and remainder of the game, but failed to capitalize on late scoring chances in the fourth quarter.
  • Streak Continues: Oak Ridge has not lost to Bradley Central since 1965.

Cleveland absolutely dominated Bradley this past Friday night. Cleveland scored just 95 seconds into the game when they took a pick 6 to the house and never looked back. Bradley returns home to play Soddy Daisy this Friday.

There's no place like home for Bradley Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They were the clear victors by a 31-7 margin over the Soddy Daisy Trojans on Friday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Bears considering their 10-point performance the matchup before.

Bradley Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tucker Cook, who threw for 193 yards and 1 touchdown on only 16 passes. The team also got some help from Terrell Goldston, who gained 85 total yards.

Bradley Central has now won three of their last four games at home. Despite that, they're 4-4 this season. Those home wins were made possible by their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.5 points on average over those four games.

Bradley will get some extra prep time with an off week this Friday, before a big home matchup against Maryville on Oct. 23.
