Except they would have earned the 1 seed and beaten a pretty close to full strength Spurs and then a finals where I don't assume Brunson gets two lower leg injuries in the first half. And if they won because Wemby got hurt and Brunson got hurt, people would rightly gripe about it.

Spurs are the luckiest team ever. 5 titles built on all time #1 draft picks. One title because Horry slammed Nash and the suspensions worked out in their favor. IDK if it made a difference, but Ewing was hurt in 99. Now this generational run of injury luck.

btw @n_huffhines I'm rooting for the Knicks
i think its best for the league it Wemby has to go through growing pains after preventing the okc dynasty. If those two teams face setbacks after failing, it keeps the west wide open and if I don't see a knicks title in my lifetime I'm gonna have to ask for a refund

The Spurs played excellent defense for most of the 3rd quarter, and increased the lead to like 14. I thought they were going to run away with the game at that point, but the Knicks made a run, came back, and dominated the 4th quarter. Should be an interesting series.

He played but he was not healthy. Hell of a stat line, but he wasn't the same beast. In his peak years, he was 22 FGAPG in the playoffs, and he was 17 FGAPG in that series because he just couldn't carry that load. He had knee problems all season and an arthritic toe. He started the season with surgery recovery and finished the season with surgery.

I think it's best for the league if the NYK win, especially with all the internationals in NY for the world cup who would be seeing the frenzy. Wemby has France in his pocket, and he'll have his time, barring catastrophe. If the Knicks don't win now, then when?

Spurs offense just really fell apart was bogged down.

But there's a conversation that needs to be had before the knicks win.

Knicks fans are crowning JB as Top 4 all time knick already when KAT is over here playing defense and facilitating the offense while watching JB take some of the dumbest shots anyone called clutch has ever taken. How long is KAT gonna put up with that?

KAT is famous for bad defense and stupid play and now that hes playing defense and moving the ball, Brunson is getting all the love and it makes no sense

Jalen has been really efficient scoring the last two playoffs, and most of the last 7 years.

My gripe about him has always been that he's not giving up the ball enough. He was delivering a high floor but the ceiling was relatively low. Something finally clicked halfway through the first round and the ball is moving like crazy. I can't remember if I shared the stat here, but KAT's touches were up like 15% and his shots were down, and that kinda tells you how everybody's playing. Jalen's still getting his shots but the ball is moving and other guys besides the my turn/your turn Brunson/KAT combo are finally involved more and the O is much more dynamic.

the my ball/your ball game was killing their offense. JB was taking way too long to do anything with the ball. They put the ball in KATs hands and asked him to facilitate, and he has. they're what? 12-0 since?

Yeah, the thing that puts them on this upper tier is they learned how to have better offense by sharing more. It's still founded upon Brunson. Not only is he the biggest piece of the offense, he's one of the 5 best closers in the league. Just because KAT's at the center of them getting to this tier doesn't mean he's doing more. I honestly couldn't tell you who is more important right now, but it's a lot easier to love Brunson.

KAT is the reason the Knicks can beat Spurs when OKC couldn't. Brunson and Shai are a lot alike, and Spurs were designed to handle their mid-range excellence...but Shai didn't have KAT, who can blow the lid off a team trying to focus on Jalen.
