Just opened mine this past week. I was surprised how clean it was this year compared to last year--which was my first year with a pool.

I'm guessing it has to do with the way it was closed. The previous homeowner closed it himself the previous year.

Anyway, I'm looking to buy one of the Polaris auto vacuum things (sorry I can't recall what they're called ). Anyone here have any experience with them and, if so, which model do you have?

My aunt has some kind of vaccum like that. Not sure what kind or whatever, but she loves it fwiw. I'm sure that don't help, but I three it out there anyway!

We only have an above ground but didn't even close it this year. Gonna pour bleach to it and go from there

Is that what you do, just pour bleach in it?

Last year mine was dark green when I opened it. It took 2-3 weeks to get it cleared up. This year it looks like it's ready to go after three days.

A few years back we had an infestation of green and tadpoles. Bleach it, like 6-8 gallons I guess. Was crystal clear in 35 minutes or so

Hayward makes a good one, comparing them to that specific model you posted though I have no idea.

I would suggest converting it to a saltwater pool. Less maintenance and I think the salt is much better than chlorine.

Hasnt started yet lol......was busy all weekend pressure washing the pool decking. Took me like 10 hours

Ha, I did that one spring. Splintered that thing to pieces at some points cause I won't listen lol. Pressure washing is therapeutic for me tho

I have the Polaris 280 TankTrax. I definitely recomend getting one. We have a salt-water pool so that also helps with maintenance but if you get a Polaris pretty much all you need to worry about is keeping proper chemicals in pool and cleaning out filter. With a salt-water pool you basically dump a bag of salt in the pool whenever the system tells you its low in salt. The kids have even named our Polaris Larry.:)

I may consider it at some point. However, I imagine a conversion is somewhat costly.

This is it freak, Hayward brand.

Thanks joe. I'll look into that.

It seems like most people have positive things to say about the Polaris. My pool a guy recommended a maytronics (or something like that) but I haven't had time to research it yet.
