look more like Ole Miss 08' or Michigan 08'?

i.e.....Our new coach will take a team with plenty of talent that has never been properly developed and lead them to a surprisingly successful season

OR

Our new coach will underacheive with a team full of talent while trying to install his way of doing things

Hard to compare. But I would have to lean more toward Ole Miss just because we arent trying to install a spread offense with pro-style players. UT has run a pro-style offense forever with the exception of last seasons Clawfense. All of these players were recruited to play a pro-style offense. You will see a smoother transition into the offense CLK is bringing this year than you saw to the horrific Clawfense last year. Just IMO.

I think we'll suprise some people. We have an awesome schedule. Last year we got jipped with just about every rival having a bye week before playing us. This year, we have a bye before the Alabama game and have a game to "warm-up" until our season starts against UCLA.

I'm looking forward to a pleasant and obvious improvement in discipline on and off the field, attitude, toughness/physicality and overall quality of play. I won't be shocked and upset if we lose 4 or 5 games as long as we're competitive and fighting to the finish in all of them.

To be honest, I don't know if we have the level of talent ole miss did. I mean we have some top notch players, but I don't know if we have the depth up front on either side of the ball yet. We will see, I still say we get atleast eight wins though.

I would be ok with a few losses as long as the improvement can be seen. But I think it will be better than expected.

I think we will see a dramatic improvement over last years nighmare. My major concern is the lack of depth we have on the DL and OL.

IMO this is a good feet-on-the-ground perspective. If I were a Vol, I'd want to see the team be competitive in every game, and accept the likelihood that we'll lose some. I expect your season to be more like Ole Miss than Michigan. Seems to me you oughta' have plenty of talent from earlier recruiting years. Not many games on your schedule that a disinterested bystander would put in the "likely loss" category.

I believe you pretty well summed it up. I agree.

Shouldn't it be "ole miss 08/michigan 08" and not 09? Both CHN and CRR will be in their 2nd year as hc's of their programs...

Depends on OL injuries.

If they avoid them, they could easily be better than Ole Miss was this year. If they have two or more, a .500 record would be asking alot.

BTW, Houston Nutt's abilities as a coach are reflected much better by what he failed to do at Arkansas than what he appeared to do at Ole Miss. He is NOT a great coach... probably not as good as Fulmer on whole.

I think we will be more like Ole Miss. I also think that we will beat Florida in Gainesville, just like Ole Miss did. Go Vols! :clapping::good!:

Blow? Suck?

Interesting that in context of this post the terms are synonymous.

(Note: while I do predict a bad record for you - 5, maybe 6 wins - there will probably be a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel for Vols fans at the end of this year. Of course, it could be the light of an oncoming train ...)

Are you sure you're a Bammer?

Where do you see 5 or 6 losses coming? I look at the schedule and can see losses to Gators, Bammers, and GA, and maybe OM , 50-50 on that one. The rest are winable and we might even surprise in one of the three where we seem out matched.

Did not realize Michigan had a successful season in 08 :)
