OK. Here's my ONLY beef with seeing my first BIG game in Knoxville yesterday. Why isn't EVERYONE on their feet and screaming loudly on defense?? Now I understand that the older folks can't necessarily do it, but there's no excuse for the other people not doing it. Maybe it's the fact that we are having a rough season or something, but get your butt's out of the seats and cheer on your defense. Good grief if we had 3/4 of the stadium going and cheering the other team couldn't hear themselves think. What it sounded like on 3rd down yesterday it should have sounded like that every down we were on defense. Call me crazy but I think some of the people need to give up their tickets for people who want to CHEER. I am so hoarse this morning it hurts to breathe somewhat.

They still sold most all of those tickets, though. A filled seat should be the same no matter who's in it. That said, I did my part from up in the upper deck, hangover, 4 hours of sleep and all.

On a side note....Who's the bald headed tool in section K or L that always tries to get the wave going....What a douche....

I agree in the section i was in i say roughly 40 to 50% looked like they were on leave from the nursing home. Now i have no problem with older folks going to games and what not but they barely clapped when there was a big play let alone on 1st and 10. I will say the other 50 or 60% was mostly from ages 15 to 55 and where good and vocal.

Thank you for saying this! I meant to comment on it, I sit in section N and this idiot does it every game, He was trying to start the wave at the beginning of the 3rd quarter when we were up 27-6 and Arky was driving. I was thinking dude know the situation! And then he started to run down to our section and try and start it so me and my dad stood up and told him to sit down and get out of our section and that made him scurry off.

I screamed until I was hoarse, which is going to be fun because I am a bartender and have to work tonight. I also clapped my hands bloody and was trying to cheerlead in my section, it worked a couple of times but geez we had some lazy people up there.

oh yeah, and I think the Arky fans all wanted to kill me by the end of the game, maybe it had something to do with my saying they only needed 6 more field goals to make it a ball game.

I have given up trying to get other people fired up. I have been going to all the home games for the last 5 or 6 years, and it has always been like that. The student section does its part, but that's only until about the late 3rd in most games. As far as I am concerned, most other people are watching the game like they are on their couch.

I also am tired of hearing old men yell for Fulmer to "come on!" after a bad play. Fulmer doesn't overthrow the ball, doesn't drop the ball, and doesn't miss tackles. Yelling at him in the middle of the game is pointless and fruitless.

This happened during the South Carolina game as well. I don't know if it was him or not, but they tried to get the wave going when SC was only 14 down and had the ball.

And then yesterday when Arkansas was driving. Ridiculous.

i agree to an extent. the fact of the matter is that some people are just not cheerers. some are just satisfied to be there and watch the game. just stating the truth.

isn't the wave supposed to be used when the other team has the ball? It is one of those intimidation tactics used to throw the other team off.

i just don't like the wave in general. there you are trying to watch the game and all of the sudden a bunch of people jump up like a bunch of goobers and bam! you've missed a touchdown.

The wave is so overused I don't think it's intimidating at all. To me it's more of a celebration and should only be done when the game is well out of hand. It distracts people from watching the game and does nothing to distract the players.

I stood up the entire game and yelled, and from where I was the student section looked pretty full.

I couldn't agree more. I sat beside a guy who complained about Fulmer the hole game. The way you feel about the coaching staff is your opinion but don't ruin the game for everyone else. I heard about the donuts and Phil more than I cared It was like sitting beside a teenager at the movies.
