I think by the time we play bama our run game will be clicking and Cromp can go deep enough times to back the secondary up. I think the vols pull off the upset by 3pts. On the other hand, I think UF runs up and down the field on us.

I don't know rex, I think our D will be a surprise to most people. I do think that the gators will win, but closer than the experts predict. Just gotta pray that the offense can at least get a few first downs this year so the D isn't on the field 45 freakin' minutes every game.

The problem is that UF's defense is going to be pretty freaking stout. They have the best player in college football and they will be at home, plus the crowd will be primed. All in all it doesn't look good for us. Other than that game I think the vols can be the surprise of college football this year.

I agree about Bama, I think we stay within 14 against UF.

Not saying its impossible but running the ball up the middle on Bama's D will be a task. Bama's D-line will make a fast back that can get around the ends a necessity. If UT can get a few 1st downs on the ground, then they may have some success through the air, but Crompton will have to be much improved over last year, or Bama's linebackers and d-backs will have a field day. Not flaming here fellas but if Crompton does not have a good showing, and some receivers step up, it will be very difficult for UT to not be 1 dimensional. But who knows, Crompton could surprise a lot of people with a good scheme and a few more starts under his belt. A good staff can motivate a Q-back and sometimes a little motivation and swagger is all it takes. RTR

Fair assessment. As good as I think UT's running game will be this year, we have to be able to make enough plays through the air so that it at least has to be respected. Otherwise, Bama will be able to keep an extra man or two in the box to prevent UT from opening many holes in the running game.

We will lean on the D early, and hope the QB situation works itself out. We will run a lot.

Sounds a lot like Bama's year is gonna go as well. Bama will lean on the D big time early on with hopes that the OL gels and the QB gets some experience.

Welcome to the board woods!

It's good to have some rational posters from other teams on here, as opposed to the usual trolls.
