Now that reality has set in after the practice game with WKU all UT fans need to take a breath, and realize where we are. Our situation is similar to what Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, and othe SEC teams have went through before they righted the ship. If we judge our season on wins against top notch teams on our schedule its going to be a long year. The truth is we do not have a QB that can play at D1 and certainly not SEC level. JC could move in with the Manning family and it would not improve his play. I don't know if we have skill at the receiver positions because of the QB problems. Its not easy for freshmen to have an impact on veteren D1 defenses with a proven QB, in our case it will be impossible.
I think the reason coach Fulmer should have been was removed was his poor recruiting, not his coaching ability or staff but that has been discussed enough. I frankly did not see a lot of difference in our offense Saturday from last year. This is not a slap at the new staff they have an empty gun to fire. I thought LK showed a lot of class not throwing JC under the bus, but when you have a chance to win the football game and all you can do is run it straight at the other team and hope, because you don't trust your QB to execute a two yard play you have major problems. I have no clue if a QB change would help or hurt but I would like to see NS get a chance. We are playing for the future he will be back next year and we should find out if he can contribute.
I truthfully believe this staff will bring the talent into our program to return us to be a major SEC and national force, but the next two years could be tough. We have suffered through them before in the 30 years I have watched Vol football and always came back stronger. Everything is in place for this to happen again, all we need is time.
