Virginia Tech is surprising some folks. They hammered a solid UNC 34-3 yesterday. That win against them is going to look pretty good when it's all said and done. They might be favored in every game left on their schedule.

I think a lot of us knew they were a much better team to ply early in the year than later. Quality win for sure though.

I'll give you the negavol take on this.

"We're just lucky we played them early. If we played them now that the greatest coach since Lombardi has had a little more time they would've killed us".

In all honestly, V Tech might've been the better team that day, but they gift-wrapped that game for us, much like we did versus Texas A&M.

I've been saying on here for two weeks and I will say it again today: Virginia Tech is the best team we've played so far. And that includes Texas A & M.

Bud Foster is the best defensive coordinator in the country.

no way... a&m would dismantle them and florida would beat them 4 out of 5 times

Whatever. aTm is not that good. We gift wrapped that one yesterday with all those turnovers. They have some loses in their future.

Have you even been watching Va Tech's games? They just destroyed North Carolina on the road yesterday. All of their wins since playing us have been one-sided blowouts.

EDIT: I see VA Tech is 17 in this week's ESPN power rankings, two spots in front of Florida. Seriously, do you really think Florida could beat them 4 of 5 times?

Not gonna lie, I didn't. I thought they were hot garbage, not just a slow starting team. I was wrong, apparently. (No offense to any Techies that read this.)

This is what I was thinking the last couple days. I didn't even realize they had gotten ranked until late in the week.

And to all of you saying "good thing we played them early," that doesn't dispute the OP at all. The OP was saying that the win is going to look good at the end, not that it proved we were a great team.

Yup. Their only tough remaining game is Miami. If they win out, they have a shot to play Clemson for the ACCs spot in the playoff. And I think bud foster can stop Watson. VT has an awesome QB too. He isn't getting the respect he deserves. 1000 yards passing, 15 TDs and ONE interception. He can run the ball too. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them take Clemson to the wire come December.

Maybe A&M is that good. Maybe UT is better, maybe really better. With all the injuries and poor play yesterday to still come close, makes me think we are really a very good team. Next week will surely tell.

This may all be true. And VA Tech is still he best team we've played so far.

Those that say we should be glad we played them in the beginning should also say that they should be thankful they played us in the beginning. We are better now then we were when we played them. I still think we beat the 7 times out of 10.

We beat them any time we play them. We are just much, much better than them.

Tech made the outstanding hire following last season in Fuente. They are a very good team and most definitely could be in the title game vs. Clemson. The Battle of Bristol win may indeed look more important as the season goes on.

I don't know about that. We went down the field when we had to. The turnovers made the score way more lopsided than maybe it should have been but the end result would have been the same.

As others have said, it doesn't matter when we played them. We have gotten better since then as well.
