I'm having dinner at my mom's house near Glencoe on Thursday, then I've got Civil War tickets on Friday. Should be a good game, Beavs are favored by 3.

What's everybody else doing?

Going to my parents around noon and then to the gf's parents in the evening. I'll eat way too much food and be enjoying some beer with my football. It sucks not having Friday off as well.

Dinner, 'Canes v. BC, then fly to Knoxville Friday morning. By the way Milo, who is going to replace Jay John? Surely the Beaver fans aren't going to allow him to soil the legacy of Ralph Miller any further.

I plan on rolling out of bed around 9 or 10 on Thursday morning, have dinner here at the house with Mom and Dad. Fall back to sleep as that is more exciting than Tampa Bay/Dallas and Miami/Detroit.

Hopefully there'll be some college basketball on that night... if not, Broncos/Chiefs.

Rest of the weekend I believe we're going to be hauling home and splitting some firewood.

Obviously gonna make time for the Vols action over the weekend.

I don't know. This is, for sure, John's win or get lost season. There's definitley a large amount of underrated talent on the OSU roster, and no reason the Beavs can't aim for .500 this season.

The only decent coaching prospect I can think of off the top of my head is Ken Bone from Portland State. Local guy, been doing well in the Big Sky. Just beat Arizona State.

The inlaws and my father are coming to visit the house for the first time. Food and football on Thursday.

Football Friday and going to Lowrey's steakhouse in Dallas Friday night as a group (minus the kids).

Ladies going to see the Rockettes on Saturday while the men watch...you guessed it, more football.

Sunday my kids are going to be baptized in the church we joined with family in attendance. Football watching to follow. Later, I will act as shuttle service to the airport.

Is your mom a good cook? I collect recipes from different areas of the world. I don't have any from the NW Territory yet.

Cool. Which church they getting baptized in? I was baptized in some huge Methodist one in Dallas... I forget which. The same one Mickey Mantle's funeral was later at, from what I understand.

First United Methodist Church in Colleyville. Not huge, but a nice congregation.

Being baptized in the same church that had Mickey Mantle's funeral is pretty cool...

 The main edible product Oregon is known for is beer. There's a different microbrewery on every block, and it can be common for bars to have like 1,000 different taps.

Other than Asian foods and Salmon, I can't think of much that is really particular to the PNW.

What?!
I think, now more than ever, that a guy with strong local HS connections needs to take over at Oregon State. Two huge, huge, HUGE local recruits in Kevin Love and Kyle Singler (committed to UCLA and Duke respectively) have gotten through the fingers of a bumbling Jay John and a hugely underachieving UofO program. After watching Les Schwab tournaments for a few years, in which numerous local teams repeatedly take the nation's top HS teams (Montrose Christian, Oak Hill, Fairfax, etc.) and take them to the brink or beat them. There is a ton of underutilized talent that under the direction of a good coach could become extremely good.

I need to brush up on my Oregon State history, obviously.
