Texas game a nooner

You don’t think we’re more talented than Furman, Kennesaw St, Ga Tech, USCjr, KY, Vandy, Ark & Auburn?? I expect to win all of those games because I believe we’re the better team.

IMO there are 4 games that will make or break the season and 3 of them are in Neyland. Texas, Bama, LSU, @ A&M. We need 2 of those games.

The Texas game will be big because we “should” be 3-0 going into that game. If you could win or keep it real close to the end you’re probably favored in every game after except A&M
I should’ve clarified. I don’t necessarily think we’re more talented than Texas, LSU, Bama, A&M. Everyone else you listed, yes we’re more talented than.

I do think Texas is a huge game but whether we win or lose, we can’t let that deter us from the rest of the schedule. When we lost to Georgia last year, it felt like a lot of the belief we had as a team went away and we laid an embarrassing stinker against Vandy.

We aren’t beating Texas

We will be the dog for sure but you never know. This season is a complete anomaly.

Will Faizon be the real deal?
Will we see a big leap due to the new s&c program?
Will the defense be legit?
Did Heupel revamp the offense?

So many unknowns. I’m expecting 8-4 but hoping for the best. We know very little right now.

some of yall giving to much credit to Josh H. lol. His best win is Alabama in neyland. Other than that. Idk.

Definitely his best win. However, he also spanked LSU in Baton Rouge, has a winning record against Florida, spanked Clemson in the Orange Bowl, and made the playoff. He’s the best coach we’ve had since Fulmer. He’s earned all of the credit that he’s gotten thus far.

A noon kickoff is really a miss for this game. An afternoon kickoff would be way better, a night game would be epic for this one. Noon? blah.

This was already discussed but OU vs GA and LSU vs aTm on the same day + whatever matchups the B1G has that day.

Those are likely top 15 ranked SEC teams and the B1G will likely add a couple of top 15 ranked matchups that week.

ESPN's best slots go where the most eyeballs can grabbed. If we were a projected top 15 team, we'd be playing TX in the afternoon.

If we’re both 3-0 going into the game, I agree, missed opportunity. But one of us is likely to be 2-1 already with them playing Ohio State and us not knowing who our QB is in JULY 🥴

The SEC is starting the big noon kickoff games now they have games at noon 330 and 730 all Big game slots. I heard some Radiohead talking about it yesterday. The Big Ten has did really good with the big noon kickoff game so Sankey is following suit evidently

I think it's way more Fox and ESPN battling for the eyeballs than Sankey calling the shots on TV games.

So are we turning into the Big 10 south now? Got played into the 9 conference games, and now Sankey wants to mock the way they do noon kickoffs?

The highest paid B1G team, Ohio State, got over $90M from the conference payout.

The highest paid SEC team, GA, got just under $80M from the conference payout.

The averages are about $72M for the SEC to $76M for the B1G.

If ESPN can squeeze more money from games with less payout, that's what they'll try to do. If the SEC can show they'll draw eyeballs for Noon games against the B1G, they'll have a chip to use to ask for a better deal in the next round of TV deals.

In short, yes. We, ESPN and the SEC, are trying to emulate what's working for Fox and the B1G in getting more money.

Didn’t the SEC generate about twice as many views as the Big 10 last season? I don’t think the payouts are based on time slots or views.

The Big 10 simply negotiated a better deal than the SEC.

Yep. Fox overpays, I guess, but the big population centers probably play into it, especially with expansion to the Left Coast.

ESPN won't pay a premium and, essentially, Fox is the only other major player. The SEC is defaulted to ESPN, IMO, and that hurts our position.

Disney also owns the license to the college football playoffs who then can sublease it to other networks. Disney does not have Fox’s incentive to push their partners’ success because they profit more from parity at the end of the year. The SEC’s mistake was signing with someone who didn’t need their partners to win for them to generate the most money.
