Texas A&M first from SEC to expand alcohol sales

Texas A&M on Thursday became the first SEC program to announce it would sell beer and wine to the general public at Kyle Field, after the alcohol ban was lifted at this year's SEC spring meetings.

That's great! The poor confused chap was merely redressing the other fellow for having a pledge pin displayed on his uniform, and some of the others' friends took offense.

I would be surprised if LSU, Missouri and Tennessee don't follow suit shortly.

We'll know if sales at Neyland this fall will be possible on June 18th, and I'm assuming that UT will announce one way or another immediately thereafter.

Makes sense. As far as promoting the major brand goes, they already have to compete [financially] in-state with another major brand (also a larger one) in Texas, which already sells beer and certain other drinks in its stadium during games.

To set the record straight, that incident occurred in 1981 and was the result of some over-aggressive SMU cheerleaders running on to the field (which was prohibited). To counter, the Cadet also went way over the line, and was suspended from the Corps. It was an ugly event...and an embarrassment to Aggies.

To set the record straight, that incident occurred in 1981 and was the result of some over-aggressive SMU cheerleaders running on to the field (which was prohibited). To counter, the Cadet also went way over the line, and was suspended from the Corps. It was an ugly event...and an embarrassment to Aggies.

Should have been especially embarrassed about the poor saber skills on display.

A&M tradition prohibits visiting cheerleaders from going onto the playing surface

A tradition or an actual rule? Also I think in this incident, pulling a sword on a bunch of guys spelling out "SMU" after scoring a TD seems like the bigger issue than some cheerleaders going onto the field. Can you say "overreation"?
