Tyndall has a track record of success at multiple schools where winning isn't a given.

I'm not a fan of pitino. I'll go ahead and admit that.

Miller - an elite 8

White - similar to Martin's resume I'll admit but has experience in the south as a HC and assistant. Supposedly a good recruiter. Is he a slam dunk? No but you obviously like him a lot as well. What's your reasoning?

Average may not have been the right word. I'll put it this way. The only thing separating the Florida job from the UT job is the coach. If Donovan were the coach here for the last 15 years, he would have the same results. The Florida job alone is not nearly as good as the coach they have. They are fortunate.

True. Florida fans don't give two shizes about basketball. They just have a very good administration that moves in one direction in terms of wanting successful sports programs. AD is one of if not the best in the nation. Fan support down there isn't worthy of what Donovan has given them.

I like him if we have to be cheap skates, but to me that's not a guaranteed improvement like you're making it sound. Could it be? Sure. However simply going off of resumes, that's not an improvement from what we just had, or previously had in Pearl.

People talk like we should be a top 20 program, then go hire a freaking top 20 coach instead of always taking the cheap route. For gods sake auburn just hired Pearl for $2.2m, we might not spend half that lmao.

You really don't see the issue in that?

Miller coached as an assistant to a better coach than Zo. Within 3 years took a school with much less everything in regards to sports further than Zo took Tennessee with a pretty stacked roster.

Tyndall has more wins, a higher winning percentage, and more NCAAs than Zo, at schools with much less resources than Zo has had.

The other two are worse resume wise.

White's future potential is a much higher ceiling than Zo imo. As is Tyndall, Miller, or even Pitino.


That's probably because we saw Zo's warts first hand. The others either don't have many warts or haven't had time to expose them yet.

As for any of them, I'd take Mears or Pearl over them all. But that's because we know what we get with them.

I assume Mears is okay since you're counting Pearl as what we had previously.

Martin(before coming to UT) in 3 seasons-61-41(26-28 in conference) Finished 10th, 7th, and 1st in his conference. He came in with no SEC ties/experience.

White in 3 seasons-74-31(35-13 in conference). Finished 5th, 1st, and 1st in his conference. He has 4 years in the SEC as a player and 7 years as an assistant coach.

I think a reasonable argument could be made that White's resume looks better than Zo's coming into UT.

If Hart does not spend the cash for Marshall or Smart, I hope he ends this thing quickly and hires White. IMO it would be 1-1.1 million very well spent. Risk? Sure there is risk. As there is when you hire just about ANY coach.

Yeah that Michael White is a proven commodity. That long list of coaches waiting to come aboard is enormous.

Dave Hart tried to screw this up and still landed an upgrade at coach.

Guess Tennessee fans "got what they deserved" in a better basketball coach.

Really thought we'd do a little more swinging for the fences but Tyndall is a worthy candidate and will go over well with this fan base.

Reminiscent of the fb coach search. If hart had went to Tyndall first, fans would be quicker to accept him. Getting rejected by coaches from La Tech stings but is soon forgotten.
