This offense is easy to scheme for if you have good CBs that can play solid man to man. Stuff the box to limit Hurd and defend the deep ball on the perimeter. We don't throw across the middle of the field AT ALL, so LBs can play up and contain Dobbs. UF can do this and will neuter this offense unless something changes. Just my prediction.

Question: I noticed that we don't use a fullback to help in blocking on the 2nd level, it appears we get through the first level fine, but the LBs are waiting, back in the Fulmer days there was a lead blocker, can someone explain why this does not fit this scheme?

It's not a knock, just an observation.

Go Vols!!

Thanks Freak. I am looking for last years KY game.

Do you have it?

Here's the offense, if that's what you're looking for.

You're hedging Fade. Which is it?

I feel like our receivers have regressed as far as blocking goes. If we could make more blocks on our screens our offense would be much more successful.

Dobbs sometimes misreads the zone option, it seems like sometimes he makes the decision to hand off or keep the ball before the play. When he does keep the ball and run at the right times it's dynamite.

Our receivers still need to help Dobbs out more and make some plays. Malone and Jennings make great catches this game. Smith and Williams dropped some balls that were catchable. Also where are our TE's and our slant routes?

I definitely see how this offense can work out (and we did see it in the second quarter.) After watching both games on the offensive side I felt better about them both. I think during the App state game the cramps really killed the momentum, as well as the Josh Smith "incompletion."

Everything definitely relies on Hurd getting consistent 5 yard runs. If that's working and you factor in the possibility of QB draws, deep passes, screens, and Dobbs ability to make a play out of nothing this offense could be terrifying for any defense on a good day.

Kamara needs to be more of a focal point in this offense. Zone read with Kamara/Dobbs or the combo of Kamara/Hurd in the backfield together presents problems...

The O line seems soft as a unit. Richmond is not ready to play vs. the big boys from this film.

The TE position and the middle of the field are non existent for the most part...we can't outflank SEC defenses with speed....We must get more vertical and nastier, imo.

Thanks for posting, Freak..

Defences are reading that swing pass to Kamara out of the backfield. I think it is time to change it up and start throwing to the WR over the top. The center of the field is open the whole time too. They need to get the TE involved more to cause the LB to work more and tire them out. A bunch of quick slants would have helped also. Need to throw 10 yard passes a lot more than the 2-5 yard passes as the D is camping there. They are going to see a lot of stacked boxes and getting the WR on the outside or heavily involved in the game and controlling the game will do wonders to unload the box. Getting the WR more involved will cause the D to have to cover them instead. When Dobbs has time, he can throw fairly well, but he needs time.

Predictable and easy to defend. I hope they are slow playing it for conference play, but I doubt it.

Watched the first play again. Wolf blows past the safeties. Would have been a big gainer.

This, or if the line could hold up a bit longer, i think fake swing pass with Kamara then have him run a wheel route would be wide open. Jmo

After watching the offense play by play, I honestly think we look a lot better than a lot of posters here are giving us credit for. The glaring holes in our offense are Drew Richmond and Dylan Wiesman. I'll give Richmond a pass because he's a freshman, but there's no excuse for Wiesman to shed blocks like that. If those two figure out how to hold a block, I think we're worlds better and still in this thing.

You could tell they were trying to set up for a deep pass. They tried to get the defense to bite on a fake of that play (albeit to Kelly, not Kamara) but the OL didn't give Dobbs time to much more than fake the pass and then run for his life.

Robertson has been much worse than Wiesman thus far. Not that he's been that good either, but still.

Agree. I am shocked and disappointed by the play on the left side. Some may not like it but Kendrick needs to be at LT.

Was fall camp physical enough?
