Tennessee vs Liberty Game Thread - 7pm

nodded off and didn't hear the game....I couldn't see it anyway...feel sorry for the boys...6-1...geez...well, one more game...hope the other Vol team I've seen this year shows up...

GO BIG ORANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wondered what had happened to you last night. LOL.....You went belly up in all that excitement.

Not sure what is going on but we have regressed as hitters this season, big time! CTV needs to rethink everything involved in hitter development this offseason.

Well for me winning 1 game in the entire tournament is an accomplishment. But acting like winning just 1 game is enough and then losing the next one your happy with. I’m not for giving out participation medals. Maybe I just got a different mind set than you do about losing ?
There's a difference in "being happy with it", and understanding this team overachieved this season. If you did not think this team would've been in Florida's position this year (on the bubble, and sweating it out on Selection Day), you're being delusional.

When there are 10-15 pitches that only go 55 feet and only 1 goes to the backstop, that's not bad. Our pitchers didn't help him at all.

He did do a good job of blocking up for the most part. There were a lot of balls that bounced out of his glove too. Pitchers will not get the call when that happens. I thought Benny had snuck into the game to get in a regional for a second. Not to mention the deal on the overthrow where he fell asleep while the runner came home. That was not good and Stallings could have been hurt trying to cover for him while he tied his shoe or whatever he was doing.

Okay...bringing up Benito Santiago, a full year after he’s gone???

You gotta be a former catcher. 😂

Seriously, kid might not be able to have kids after what our pitchers did to him yesterday.

J/k....

Just funning...

No, sadly just a former rag armed pitcher.

Well, if we're being honest, this program doesn't really know much about Hoover much less the NCAAT. The old super bowl saying is that you have to lose one before you can win it gives me some sliver of a silver lining. The Rod years seem a lifetime ago. While I know many will say baseball is baseball, I'd prefer to stay in my own naive little world and consider the much improved product and season we've enjoyed and tell myself that just making the tournament(s) was an accomplishment we can build on going forward. I'm also a BVS survivor who is perpetually cupped up at times like this. I expect us to do a face plant so the outcomes like this, while painful, are at least expected and somehow easier to take. In a strange, perverted way, when we do something like win a game we aren't supposed to, it does make it a tad sweeter.

Anyway, I had no expectations beyond making it to Hoover. We're still playing with house money....at least in my sheltered casino. Now excuse me while I step away for a bit. Time for my meds. ;)
I would be ok with losing if they played their best game. However against Liberty and Auburn they wet the bed. Making a lot of unforced errors, awful at bats with no adjustments, pitching wasnt good. Its every time they make it TN teams act like theyve never been there before
