Since the SEC split into divisions in 1992 (24 seasons), Tennessee has beat florida, georgia, & alabama all in the same season twice.

1998 & 2004.

Here's to a new era where this trend is reversed...

That's certainly a tall task...to beat those teams in the same season. Let's add '16 to that list!

If it's just beating Florida and Georgia in the same season, it's 1992, 1998, and 2004.

It's hard to knock all the pins down.

In that same 24-year period, Florida has only had five seasons where they beat the Vols, UGa, and FSU all in the same year. And Georgia has only had one season out of the 24 where they beat us, the Gators and South Carolina all in the same year.

Nature of the beast in the SEC; every year includes a number of tough challenges, for every team.

But I'm with you, man, let's make 2016 another of those years for the Vols!

And that is why a lot of people are saying 10-2 or 11-1. It is not as easy to walk thru the SEC and go undefeated as some are predicting. I hope and pray that we can do it but it doesn't happen often.

Great post. That was literally the question I had after I saw the stat in the original post.

I think once you get above 9 wins, the line gets so fine that it's just hard to really predict. Even last year, we were a foot to the left on a FG and/or one tackle against Florida, holding onto a sack or two against Oklahoma, and one defensive stop against Alabama from 11-1. We were also a fumble strip against SC and- possibly- a dropped TD against UGA from 7-5.

Oh I agree. That's what I meant by it not being easy. Small things like you listed is the reason the SEC is so tough. One or two things go wrong and it's a loss.
