I do not think I am going out on a limb here. After watching games yesterday on the computer and TV, I think the SEC is in a class above the rest. Likewise, Tennessee has done well outside the conference once they got into the season. They are more fluid on offense than I thought. As I witnessed the success of Vandy yesterday it showed how strong this Conference is and I would not be surprised if all teams go deeper in the tourney than expected. I do believe that Tennessee will have a good showing today and win fairly easily. The monkey may getting of their back for good because of the competition and strength of the SEC. I never thought I would agree with Skip Bayless but from what I have seen in the tourney so far the teams have been mediocare with a few exceptions. GO VOLS!!!!!

I'm not sure the 1st day of the 1st round is the appropriate time to dismiss the bulk of the teams as "mediocre." I think it's fair to say that, as nerves settle and the intensity grows in the tournament, so do performances. That said, I do agree with you that the strength of the SEC is excellent preparation for conference teams to play in the tourney. Go Vols!

I guess mediocre is a harsh word, however I have not been impressed with any teams thus far with the exception of Vandy and VCU. Although the lower seeds have won fairly easily. I think it boils down to effort and intensity. The SEC seems to be a cut above the rest when comparing style of play, defense, intensity. We will have spurts today as usual. I do not believe after 1/2 of the day I saw any team that was clearly headed to the final 4. I have seen much more than that. VA seems to be doing well. I believe that Tennessee will be ready to play today and playing in this Arena already one time this year will be advantageous.

Assuming we beat LBSU, I think UVA may be somewhat vulnerable in round 2, strange as that may sound. Mainly because I do not believe the Cavs can match this performance in back to back games. They're way over their heads today against a good Albany team.

Surprisely enough we match up better against UVA than LBS. I not sure if I buy into this second game preparation but it works for me. I would not go to any tournament without looking somewhat in depth at all the teams in my immediate 4 team bracket.

I think the games are in Nationwide Arena, which is not where OSU plays.

something i have learned over the years. . . playing good, or poorly, the first game has little or nothing to do with success deep in the tourney. I can't tell you how many times i've seen teams barely get by much lower seeds only to dominate later, or how many teams look like world beaters one round and lose the next. edit: to clarify I am talking about other teams in general, not Tenn.

I understand exactly what you're saying. I just hope UT doesn't fall into that category

This board and comments was all pre game. What I have seen to date world beaters is very sloppy play. Call it nerves or whatever. BP had us ready to play and the level of the SEC is beginning to come out for the first time. I think Ky wilns tonight along with ARK and of Course FL. We were world beaters today. Hope it holds but the main thing is that we played like a team and a machine. Passing and rebounding. I have seen alot of panic so far in other teams TN did not show that today when the lead was cut to 6. Very strong showing.
