Just watching the 18 teams who made it to the state championship game I saw an abundance of 6'5" and up 300 pound offensive linemen who were very good. Imagine how many more are on the teams that did not make it to the final game. I wonder how many of those guys, currently not on the radar of UT, everything else being equal, but they happened to have moved to an Alabama or Georgia school when they entered the 10th grade, would be getting offers to UT? I am waiting on a HC who will not fall for this false perception that you have to recruit mostly from out of state. I'm 65 now so I hope I make it long enough to be proven right.....okay, now start up with all the usual crap excuses.

Well blocking a 21 year old man is a little different than blocking a 16 year old kid.

Wanting to be proven right more than wanting the coach to be proven right is the biggest problem for a lot of supposed fans. They can't enjoy the good times because it has proven them to be wrong. So they always find ways to go "yeah, but" when progress and positives are pointed out.

At 65 years of age one would like to think we will have enough wisdom to know that being right aint all the important.

I'm 72 years old with a son who is now 51 who played college football, but I am wise enough to know that I am not near as qualified to recognize which o-linemen are a good fit for coach Heupel's system him & his staff. I trust his judgement on this matter way more than I do my own ‼️ Go Vols‼️

I was right more times by the time I was 30 than you will be your entire life.

I was very impressed with the quality of play I saw in the Baylor-McCallie game. A lot of outstanding athletes & plays in that game.

They're in the middle of SEC country. A "very good" olineman who is 6'5" 300+ isn't getting missed. High level D1 athletes stand out at the HS level
I never understood this until I had a kid play football at a high level in the high school world. My kid was never a D1 prospect but I carried him to several SEC school for their open camps... When you go there and see the difference in a great high school player and a great college player..... Then you will understand. College coaches do not care what you did in high school.

They care about 3 things:

1. Can this player academically enroll at my school
2. Can this player play at this level. ( how big, fast, strong, and what growth can we expect )
3. Is this player going to be a discipline problem for me down the road.

Bobby I'm not sure what you're complaining about.

2023 Roster:
Cade Mays (Ktown)
Aiden Bussell (Mt Juliet)
Dayne Davis (Bluff City)
Jackson Lampley ( Nashville)
Ollie Lane (Ktown)
Gus Hill (Fayetteville TN)

2024 recruiting
Jesse Perry (Murfreesboro)
Lost the other WE RECRUITED to Clemson.

What exactly are you complaining about??

We're are all these Tennessee HS 6'5 300 lbs going in the SEC???

Fulmer missed out on willis, from Bruceton, Tn. small school, just a 3 star, went to Ole Ms. and then on to the nfl and was a star in nfl. so sometimes they are missed, Willis wanted to go to UT, but we didn't want him, of course this has been a few years ago, I just happenn to live near Bructon, Tn. and knew about it at the time.

Fulmer didn't miss out on Patrick. Fulmer knew full well his potential and even told Patrick he could start on any SEC team he wanted. He would have had a scholly to UT had he chose. Finley guided him to Ole Miss, he has always been an Ole Miss fan.

That's not what Willis said. I heard him in an interview. He wanted to go to UT, but they wouldn't give him a scholarship. As a young child he attended many UT games, and playing at UT was a childhood dream. I am just stating what Willis said in an interview. I think Fulmer was a great coach, I only mentioned this because I think even great coaches miss out on a few players, or they slip through without being noticed as much if they don't go to camps and etc. and attend a small school from a small town.

This is accurate. Willis was said to have offered to crawl to UT on broken glass if given a scholly.
