No one said she needed pitch over anyone. Yall have been on her since she got in the portal.
You said she was misused. How else are we supposed to take that other than that you believe she should have pitched more innings over someone who did. It was made pretty clear to her and her family before the season started that she would likely redshirt this year because of where she was after the fall still trying to come back from her injury.
She underwent major surgery before her senior year of high school. It does not appear that her ability to pitch is the same as it was prior to that surgery. That doesn’t mean that she can’t get back there, but her abilities in the fall and at the beginning of spring did not place her ahead of anyone else on the pitching staff. Two or three years ago, that wouldn’t be a huge problem for an in-state prospect, you take a red shirt ear and you’re likely receiving academic scholarship money plus lower in-state tuition, so a school can afford to wait a year or two for someone to come all the way back.
But in today’s world, everyone is on full scholarship and there is a hard roster limit that goes with that. A school competing for championships can’t wait multiple years for a player to get back to 100% from an injury, when they’re not positive that player will ever get there. From her perspective, if she was behind Pickens, Sage, Erin and Peyton this year, only Pickens leaves after this year. She would have to take a large step forward next year to significantly change the number of innings that she would receive, particularly with two arms coming in with this class as well.
So if the post earlier was correct about the meeting where she asked what she needed to do to have a bigger role, then I’m not surprised that she left for a different opportunity. I hope she goes to Alabama and reclaims being the player that she was before her surgery. It’s not attacking the kid to provide an evaluation of where she stood in the pecking order.
The unfortunate thing for her now at Alabama is that with the approval yesterday of the five years to play five seasons, the members of the pitching staff in front of her there now have an extra year that she probably didn’t anticipate them having when she signed a couple of weeks ago.
not true. I have played a lot of ball against this kid both in high school and travel. She is a legit pitcher. She does have change up and that wasn’t the problem.
