anytime tennessee plays an in-state school in softball (belmont, lipscomb, ut-martin, etsu, etc.) they always pitch their ACE. this gives many people the chance to see KP (in the past rogers) because these games usually pull a good crowd.Does anybody know why we would pitch Pickens when she just pitched 7 innings on Sunday?
Rather than pitching Sage, Peyton or Rutan?
Because Belmont's pitcher is rated as a top-3 pitcher in the country by D1 softball. Karen said in her weekly press conference this morning that she was likely the best pitcher they would face the rest of the year.Does anybody know why we would pitch Pickens when she just pitched 7 innings on Sunday?

With the pitching we have I would definitely give her some rest. I know we start SEC play this weekend but I would set her for a few weeks no matter what the doctor says. Something was not right I noticed her shaking her arm couple pitches before she let it be known. That's a really bad sign for baseball pitchers I know softball pitchers don't have the same problems . SEC is big but not the most important thing these ladies are playing for.No detail as she’s getting checked out today, but I’d use caution of the nothing serious. Hope for the best in the next few hours,
Agree, something wasn’t right. Softball pitchers have different problems than baseball. Baseball you throw more than one inning you’re probably resting a few days. Softball pitchers like Pickens who can throw 14-21+ innings in a weekend (500-600 total pitches - pregame pitches included 50-125). That’s wear and tear on your arm/shoulder, legs, back and overall energy. My initial thought when she grabbed her shoulder was labrum. Had she popped her shoulder out she wouldn’t have thrown another pitch. Labrum you can the velo wont be there. With the pitching we have I would definitely give her some rest. Is she hurt? Why not turn her loose on nc central team last week. The other freshman did pretty good in her first outing too.Plumlee, yes.
Much to valuable player and person to even let her warm up for a couple of weeks. You just don't take that chance with this type of player. We're deep enough at pitching even we lose a game or two untill she's 100% read it's not that important.Reports saying it was an arm strain. Claim she is “day-to-day.” Obviously depends on the severity of the strain, but strains can often be lingering issues. Would not shock me if she does not pitch this weekend
