Tennessee Softball 2026

Hope this turns out to not be a long term thing SEC schedule looming.

Me too. I think I saw in her games this year before today, she maybe lining up on the rubber differently than I remember for the last two years. That might be a cause test of the shoulder pain.

Does anybody know why we would pitch Pickens when she just pitched 7 innings on Sunday?

Rather than pitching Sage, Peyton or Rutan?

anytime tennessee plays an in-state school in softball (belmont, lipscomb, ut-martin, etsu, etc.) they always pitch their ACE. this gives many people the chance to see KP (in the past rogers) because these games usually pull a good crowd.

Because Belmont's pitcher is rated as a top-3 pitcher in the country by D1 softball. Karen said in her weekly press conference this morning that she was likely the best pitcher they would face the rest of the year.

No detail as she’s getting checked out today, but I’d use caution of the nothing serious. Hope for the best in the next few hours,
With the pitching we have I would definitely give her some rest. I know we start SEC play this weekend but I would set her for a few weeks no matter what the doctor says. Something was not right I noticed her shaking her arm couple pitches before she let it be known. That's a really bad sign for baseball pitchers I know softball pitchers don't have the same problems . SEC is big but not the most important thing these ladies are playing for.

Agree, something wasn’t right. Softball pitchers have different problems than baseball. Baseball you throw more than one inning you’re probably resting a few days. Softball pitchers like Pickens who can throw 14-21+ innings in a weekend (500-600 total pitches - pregame pitches included 50-125). That’s wear and tear on your arm/shoulder, legs, back and overall energy. My initial thought when she grabbed her shoulder was labrum. Had she popped her shoulder out she wouldn’t have thrown another pitch. Labrum you can the velo wont be there.

Sounds like initial testing was good and she’s getting more in-depth testing today to rule everything out.

So next question if we knew she would get the start to battle Belmont's Ace, why start her against App State last Sunday?

Did she pitch the 2nd game against Penn St.?

Plumlee, yes.
Is she hurt? Why not turn her loose on nc central team last week. The other freshman did pretty good in her first outing too.

That way
Erin/Sage pitches to App state Sunday freeing up Pickens for showdown with Belmont. Maybe wouldn't be a issue with her right now? I'm just asking S$#t sec play starts this weekend and Ace goes down. I feel like Billy Bob Thornton in the last episode of the 2nd season of landman just pour it on me big guy lol.

I'm hoping Pickens just slept wrong the night before goodness!!!

Reports saying it was an arm strain. Claim she is “day-to-day.” Obviously depends on the severity of the strain, but strains can often be lingering issues. Would not shock me if she does not pitch this weekend
Much to valuable player and person to even let her warm up for a couple of weeks. You just don't take that chance with this type of player. We're deep enough at pitching even we lose a game or two untill she's 100% read it's not that important.
