#5/6 LADY VOLS REGISTER FOURTH STRAIGHT SHUTOUT WIN AFTER DEFEATING LMU, 3-0

August 23, 2025 | Soccer

LOS ANGELES, Calif – The No. 5/6 Tennessee soccer team registered its fourth straight shutout win after defeating LMU, 3-0, Saturday night at Sullivan Field.

Throughout the four-match span to start the season, UT has outscored its opponents 15-0. Additionally, the 4-0-0 start from the Lady Vols marks the best start in the Joe Kirt era.

Shae O'Rourke continues to carry her momentum over each game and secured her fifth score of the season, converting on a penalty kick to get the Big Orange on the board. O'Rourke now holds a 1.25 goals-per-game average and has secured three game-winners.

Jenna Stayart also knocked in her first goal of the season and has four total points on the year.

UT broke through in the 19th minute after Reese Mattern drew a penalty in the box. O'Rourke, who took the penalty kick, successfully converted in in the bottom left of the net.

Tennessee's second goal of the night to extend its lead came in the 62nd minute after an own goal from LMU.

With a little over a minute left to play, Luciana Latino found Jenna Stayart in the box who left-footed it in the back of the net to secure the 3-0 win.

Catamounts: aka “cougars”. So be careful, any of you young men planning on making the trip.

I have feelings you are right. How crazy has the start of this season been?

By the way, good call on your score prediction
Can't take any team for granted now, we will be getting everyone's best shot. I didn't think LMU played that badly,we just got all the breaks. Just a sign this is hopefully our dream season.

Georgia beat UNC 2-0
BYU 1
UCLA 0
Tennessee evidently not only ripping out teams' hearts, but destroying their offensive psyche and will to score
(...in a competitively friendly sort of way). 😘 💐⚰️

But a serious question: Is the Lady Vols coaching staff writing the book on how to defeat these teams, this early in the season? They've had since early July to prepare for them, and successful teams don't usually change much from the previous season if their roster has remained intact.
