A week after playing six offensive linemen throughout a come-from-behind, pulling-away victory against Virginia Tech in the 'Battle at Bristol,' Tennessee once again is poised to alter its up-front approach today against visiting Ohio.
Kickoff between the No. 15 Vols (2-0) and Bobcats (1-1) is noon inside Neyland Stadium. Look for sophomore offensive lineman Jack Jones, per sources on the field inside Neyland Stadium, to make his first career home start along the offensive front, with Jones' practice play and time last week against the Hokies serving as impetus for his insertion into the lineup. If Jones gets the start as expected, the Vols' projecting front-five on offense consists (from left to right) of: Brett Kendrick, Jashon Robertson, Dylan Wiesman, Jones and Coleman Thomas.
I didn't know that Martin was hurt
Tennessee is without a host of key players today for its final game of a three-straight non-conference contests to open this expectations-filled '16 campaign. The Vols, who open SEC play next week at home against archnemesis Florida, will not have Josh Smith (WR, ankle), Justin Martin (DB, ankle), Darrin Kirkland Jr. (LB, ankle), LaTroy Lewis (DE, ankle) and potentially one to two additional players nursing various ailments.
