Tennessee seeks 6th year of eligibility for Maggitt

Go pro or go to work - odds are a 6th year will equal another injury unfortunately. Has been a dynamic player when healthy.

Bad idea for him! maggitt needs to get whatever money he can from the NFL next season .. Injuries find him

I think he'd still get drafted. Why risk another injury at the college level?

Why don't you go run in to a 300lb man at full speed about 60-70 times and see how well your body handles it?
. Nothing I said was disbarraging to him. I love his effort and heart; but the guy has been plagued by injuries throughout his career. All I said he should consider a healthy life outside if football.

Been a weird start to the season.

Pig suspended.

Jumper starts.

Danny O'Brien suspended

Danny O'Brien has as many sacks as Maggitt and Barnett combined

North has 9 yards

Pig has 8 yards

Our leading WR has 69 yards and was a quarterback a few weeks ago

Kamara only has 19 carries

Medley is trainwreck

Punter is crushing it

Thanks to TKjr we don't have 0 picks

Dobbs is 9th in SEC in passer rating

Bases on what I've seen, I wouldn't be surprised if Maggitt got 7 years of eligibility and Mike Hamilton came back to the AD. Nuts of a year so far.

Or get part of or maybe all your Masters paid for while continuing to live the college life and be treated like Rocky Top royalty. Really, I couldn't blame him either way.

I think that if a team drafted him as a pass rush specialist and not as an every down defender they'd be getting a huge lift.

I would go pro and try and make some money if I were him. He's had a lot of injuries over the years and who knows how many years he's got left so might as well get a good payday before his career is up. However I'm not him so here's to hoping he stays and gets granted a 6th year to help this team win football games

Go pro and make some money. Therein is the caveat. Do the pros want to take a risk on an injury prone guy? While I agree with the sentiment, I think his chances are better off if he's playing healthy before going to draft.

If he can't make it back for Bama then no reason burning his final year on our trash games

There is if that is what he wants to do.

Curt has been here for five years, will have two degrees at the end of this season, and, from what I understand, did a internship that led to a job offer that will be there if professional football doesn't work out.

Five years is a long time to have your body beaten up for basically free. Six years is longer. I would be very surprised if he wanted to stay for a sixth year.

Reminds me of Hardesty. He spent basically 3 full years injured. Did he turn to dope/fighting/stealing/rape? Nope he got a degree in economics and in agriculture. 2 good kids.

Report is premature. At this point, the goal is to rehab him and try to return this year, if only for a couple of games.

If that doesn't happen, then they will consider this option, if it's what Curt wants.

I hope the best for him. Gotta feel bad for the guy.

I agree about having a better chance at the NFL with a good healthy year under his belt, but that's another year of risking another injury in college. I don't know if he would get drafted or not this upcoming draft, if so it would be late rds. If he can make a team he will still get paid well, far more then the average Joe. Guess we'll have to wait and see. That's even if this 6th year theory has any legs to it.

Marcus Spears said he believes that even being out for 8 weeks Maggit could easily still be a third round draft pick.

Per Hubbs

Let's address the sixth-year talk for a minute: We're told by multiple people on campus that yes, a sixth year would be a likely option for Curt Maggitt. It even could be explored for Marcus Jackson. But multiple people throughout this week told us that neither player at this point has shown an overriding desire for the sixth year. Jackson could have NFL or Law School options while Maggitt had seen his NFL stock climb steadily after his 2014 season --- most notably because of both Maggitt's production and health. Some NFL people we spoke with said that Maggitt had entered this season being talked about as a possible third-round guy and comfortably projected into the middle rounds. The knock was on his health. So rehab will be key to get his body healed for that process. It seems unlikely, with NFL dreams, that Maggitt would risk another year in college ball based on our conversations with people on campus. And Butch Jones publicly reiterated Thursday afternoon that Maggitt could return later this season and that surgery was not needed. Maggitt traveled Tuesday to Nashville to meet with hip/leg specialist Dr. Thomas Byrd.

He'll make somebody a good linebacker in a 4-3, or as an edge rusher in a 3-4. I dont see him coming back, and even if he does,
he'll still be a tweeer when he leaves. Round 5 or 6.

Curt is a good guy, and IMO, will always be a great example of a VFL.

Do I hope he gets a 6th year? Yes.

Do I see it happening? No.
