I could be remembering this wrong but I could have sworn that during the last years of Fulmer's reign we did not have a second half team at all. After the half our players were nowhere to be found. Despite this being a losing season so thus far I've been impressed with how long we've been staying in the game.

Thoughts?

This thread made me wonder why we fired the guy in the first place....

I get he was losing big to our biggest rivals, but...c'mon, it's not like we are beating them now. What we have been seeing the past few years is just pathetic opposed to two bad seasons in 16 years. Is there a chance (just the slightest) that we screwed ourselves when we fired Fulmer?

No, we didn't screw ourselves because we fired Fulmer. We hired a Trojan and the condom broke.

Yeah, I still believe that we would be in this mess as Fulmer had us going downhill. We had a chance to avoid it, but we messed it up by hiring Kiffen.

Now we're here and we again have the choice. We can either continue our slow progress with Dooley or roll the dice to try and accelerate the process.

I was watching the 2006 Cal game as UT destroyed a top ten team for the last time in 6 years going on 7 soon..and I wondered the same thing. Miss having a RB like Hardesty and Foster (sans fumbles).

What I see, from 97 till 08 we went 4 wins 6 loss and 2 no shows in bowl games. I loved Phill but I feel he started resting on his accomplishments.

Because he went out there and played terrible in those games. I think he was too busy resting on his accomplishments instead of scouting the opponents and holding bowl practices.

Hindsight is always 20/20 but pretty easy for me to say now that we should have given him the benefit of the doubt and let him right the ship...if nothing else we would be no worse off surely and those 8, 9, 10 win seasons look damned amazing right now!

He got outcoached a lot in SEC games in the 2000's. When the recruiting started to dip he got exposed. It was time.

Did these stats address the original question? Performance after the half?

Firing Fulmer destroyed our program, and right now---it doesn't look like it will be getting fixed at ANY time.

Idiotic decision then. Idiotic decision now.

If that game makes you miss Fulmer, then just pop in the 2007 Cal game when we played a worse Cal team on a bigger stage...and got absolutely humiliated.
