Tennessee prepare for Legal Action?

That is not saying what you think it says.

The "conflict" that is to be resolved is with the administrative scheduling - not the 8 game schedule. And conflicts in this context refers to any contractual scheduling made by conference members.
It does not apply to games that have been scheduled and later cancelled by the Commissioner - that is accounted for in the Commissioner's Regulations.

I'm no attorney, but anytime I see the language SHALL...means there is no wiggle room, it is a MUST. They SHALL play 8 game conference schedule. Seems to me they either play 8 conference games or they are disqualified, both of them.

Why can't LSU and FL just play on Sunday? Gainsville should be fine by then?? Just Curious.

.

Having lived through a few hurricanes and missed a few others, the day after is a day to pick the pieces up and figure out the state of where things are. Would imagine hosting a football game the day after is not nearly enough time to prep for it.

That said, F the gators!

if lsu wins out, and bama only has 1 loss, alabama will win the sec west, since lsu will be missing one game.

NOT TRUE!!!!! S.E.C. office in B=ham says the S.E.C. Championship teams will have the BEST WINNING % of their division.

So, should FLorida have (1) loss and Tennessee have (2) losses in the S.E.C. Florida's winning % is better than ours, thus they are IN like FLYNN.

You guys start a go fund me page for the lawsuit.

I'll start one to get you treated for melodrama.

He's speaking of LSU, its more or less a L, however there is a lot of football remaining so it depends.

Guys we went overtime with App State. Even if we win the next two, there is no guarantee the other games on our schedule are automatic wins. We should win all the games on the last half of our schedule, but there are no automatic wins for this injury riddled team.

If the hurricane actually impacted Gainesville. . .

If this weren't the only game this weekend that couldn't be worked out. . .

If Florida didn't weasel out of their toughest remaining contest at a tough part of the season. . .

If there weren't a precedent for this exact scenario. . .

then this wouldn't be a hot-topic. As it is, Florida gets a freebie if this game isn't made up. The SEC needs to make this right.

What Florida did might be bush league, but the SEC clearly already got it wrong.

It isn't going to matter, in the end.

Florida needs to petition for admittance to the ACC so they can join their chicken sh$$ brother Florida State...

This BS will happen again. This is not the last hurricane during SEC football season. It will happen again in the future.
Winning percentage is based on an eight game schedule, period. You don't play 8, your not eligible for the championship, period.
Leadership from the SEC front office is weak. This is disturbing for the future of the SEC.
Bottom line is the new commissioner "Sankey" has NO BALLS!

Oh look... A Florida fan, whose team is literally dodging an opponent and potentially screwing up the entire SEC race, has climbed up on his pedestal and is accusing UT fans of being dramatic. Isn't that precious?

Why would anyone evacuate Gainesville? I mean for the storm. Of course, if I were there I'd leave, but just because the place sucks. :)

Hurricanes bring three major risks: destructive winds, storm surge, and heavy rainfall.

As far as a day and a half in advance, there was near-zero possibility Gainesville would get hurricane-force winds, and only a 20% chance they would see 50-knot winds. In fact, there were even odds they wouldn't even get tropical storm (39 knot) winds. So nix that concern.

Gainesville is far inland (from either coast), and never need worry about storm surge, in any way.

Finally, the predictions 36-48 hours out were that Gainesville would see 2"-4" of rain. In Florida, that's a typical summer afternoon.

Most folks evacuate in the final 24-36 hours before the storm's arrival. Very few leave earlier than that. Which means everyone in Gainesville who was worried enough to consider evacuation had all the information they needed to reassure them it wasn't necessary.

I doubt one tenth of one percent of the city and university evacuated because of Matthew.
I didn't say they did leave, just that nothing was stopping them. I wasn't aware that there was no mandatory evacuation for that area. Either way it's speculation , and I've made it pretty clear what I think of the failure to get this game rescheduled.

It's 2 separate things. Safety for all affected and then what to do after that's accomplished.

It appears that part of FL is safe, so now you reschedule. Like every other school has. That alone disallows the excuse of resources and safety, at this point.

To enforce this 8 game rule for in court UT lawyers need to file lawsuits early

The catch is that at present, UT has suffered no harm for which to request relief. The harm is only potential. If and when the harm were actually suffered, at the end of the season, there would be no time for it to work through the legal system. UT needs to win out. There would be joy in crushing Florida's renewed hope on the field of play a second time. We could break their hearts a second time via the scoreboard. That would be sweet watching their hopes fade week by week.

Should Tennessee go ahead and prepare for a law suit in the event the SEC front office fumbles this whole LSU/Florida rescheduling?

I know there is a written rule in the Bylaws. But, anything can be contested in court or clarified or made an exception to.

Sick of how this may effect the rest of the conference and not just benefiting both teams.

In theory LSU could win out and be SEC West Champs also. Not likely, but could happen. If Bama and A&M flop.

Wouldn't it really be some **** if LSU and UF play in ATL representing their respective divisions?

Rather prepare for hot action
