TENNESSEE ATHLETICS OFFERS FREE FOOTBALL TICKETS TO HURRICANE EVACUEES
Residents of North Carolina and South Carolina may receive a complimentary ticket to Saturday’s game vs. UTEP
September 12, 2018

"Our hearts go out to all the families whose lives have been impacted by the hurricanes and tropical storms along the Atlantic coast," Fulmer said. "One of our four pillars is warmth, and we feel this is an appropriate way to bring that to life. Certainly, a football game is relatively insignificant in comparison to the realities these evacuees are facing. But if we can provide just a few hours of distraction and normalcy for these families, I believe we should do all we can to make that possible for them."

We beat the UT admin up and rightfully so most times but this makes me very proud of them and our University . Huge props for this .

Don’t see how people in the middle of their own personal crisis are going to give a rat’s ass about some football game they have no affiliation with, but whatever, there are probably a ton of unsold seats.

Glad we're not playing Alabama. They'd be leaving the stadium faster than the evacuation going on now.

Well most people flee and need a place to go. Even if it's for a few days. If they just happened to get a hotel in Knoxville atleast they can go to a free game while their house is being destroyed, gunna get that insurance money anyways.

It’s called marketing 101. And still a classy move whatever the supposed narrative.

On the face of it, I agree. But, it will be a very coordinated effort by relief services to get hotels filled up all over the southeast. One million folks evacuating will stretch well up into TN, GA and VA, for simple lack of place to stay. If there's a family with young kids, who are going thru this ordeal, and are able to take their kids to a game to break the tension, then that's great. Certainly can't hurt anything...if they don't give any away, then no big deal...if they give a lot away, then we'll have more folks in the stands. Probably could have given away 10K last week.

Amazing opportunity to let outsiders see our traditions, great state, and university. Very classy move! Hope we fill out Neyland and gain some new fans!!
