If we go back and pull up our preseason discussions, I think it is safe to say this season is an unqualified success. Anything the Vols accomplish from here on out just adds to the luster of this pleasantly surprising season.

I disagree, we've underachieved for most of the season.. We stand no chance against THE Ohio State University Thursay night.=Tennessee Vol Authority:crazy:

We stand no chance after only losing to them by 2 points in regular season? I agree the Vols with have to bring their A game with no rim music by Lofton but I think this team is hungrier than the Buckeyes.

My dad and I were discussing this very thing on Saturday. Get to the Sweet 16 and you've accomplished the goals set forth thus far. Anything past this is gravy. Great job by the entire team. Freshmen on up to the Head Cheese. The only thing I could possibly try and be disappointed in is the lack of road success. That issue is balanced by a perfect home record, as well as a couple of at least decent road wins at the end of the season.

:peace2: Great post Hat.

Wow... it didn't take long for you to take the bait.

I think we past all expectations for this year when we won our first round game. Not that I wanted more but this is a very young but solid team. At the begining of the year I never did expect this, and just remember about 2 months ago we were all talking about, are we in or out of the NCAA Tourney & right now we are 2 wins away from the Final 4 & in the Sweet Sixteen.

Great analogy by HV96. Exactly right. Let's just play hard Thursday and who knows? Either way, it has been a tremendous season, and the future is very bright.

hat, don't fall into that old gambler's fallacy. Once you win it, it is your money, not the house's. Protect it as such.

Your assessment of the season is right on, though:thumbsup:

An emphatic "You betcha!".

Make your free throws on Thursday Vols. This will more then likely be the difference.

I would have to agree with you Hat. After the losses from last year's team, I had figured we might slip in to the NCAA Tournament. The four freshman have really matured over the course of the season. I figured we were playing with house money just by getting in, but, our players should definitely feel no pressure from here on out.

What amazes me is that in neither of these past two games did we really execute the way SEC wins over Florida and Vandy show these Vols are capable. We still have another level of performance that we have not yet shown in the tournament. Bring that game to San Antonio and who knows....

Yep, I was thinking the same thing... from her eon out, just have fun. Kinda like the Florida game in Knoxville.

If they emulate the LB game- they will win.

Agreed. It's gravy/icing/the house's money.

And we're underdogs. Think Ramar, Duke, Wayne and Tabb are feeling a bit slighted with Conley, Butler and Oden getting all the praise and attention?

Gravy's only good when there's a healthy serving of prime rib underneath...

I'm greedy now. I want another victory!
:dance2:
oh, we already had the meat and taters, re LBSU and UVA...and while that was good, i still got room for some gravy........

I really believe this kind of matchup is bad for tOSU. Big men that can hit the outside shot? Oden is not leaving his area. Chism and Childress hit a couple and here we go.

GO VOLS

99% of the teams in the NCAA consider reaching the sweet 16 as the standard for a successful season, the Vols included.

Are you kidding?

Niagra, FAMU, TA&MCC, I can go on and on...getting into the tournament for teams such as these is a standard for a successful season...

Wow! This is something I hadn't thought of - seriously. Ohio State's defensive play as of late has been amazing because Matta sits Oden in the paint and plays a zone. What does zone allow for? More open look 3s? What does Tennessee do well, 6 players deep? Shoot 3s. If we're having an above average night from the perimeter, we might have a legit shot here.

Good post, man.
