Good opportunity for THIS FAN BASE to step up and give SPYRE a boost to go backfill a QB and a few more players this cycle. Put up or shut up time for this group.

Not thinking we go buy a starter, but with only a FR needing a year to grow as a backup, another competitive body is needed. Not clear how good MERK is, got a lot of potential, especially with summer work with the receivers. Might find our receivers are pretty good or better after all.

Heupel is taking a huge gamble on several different levels. He identified Faizon as his guy early on and doesn’t appear to have made much effort with Curtis. If Brandon doesn’t produce or does produce and constantly wants more……

Someone is lying. His dad, the university, both.
There’s a lot that went on that we will never know.
And there’s still a lot of stupidity in this thread.
Hell, just look at all the “anonymous sources “ today. People in the press have reported that he’s going to 10 different schools. It’s also been reported that none of those schools want him. So who’s right and what actually happened and when. You really don’t know anything about it except that someone guessed right in one of their guesses.

I don’t blame a man for wanting to make more money. Most do that every day. Running him down for it because it might mess up your Saturday in the fall is beyond stupid, it’s moronic. Will the poor timing of his decision cost him money? Will it make him money? Only time will tell. But if you’re wishing bad things on him because he appears to have misplayed his hand then that says more about you than him.
Even this attempt at fictional “e-cred” says something about you.

I’m not wishing bad things on him. I’m just wishing that he has to go pro in something other than sports like the rest of us. And I think you made a fool of yourself trying to discredit this reporter, which would take money out of his pocket if others felt like you do, so get off your moral high horse now that you were proven wrong.

Try this on for size.

The head coach of the University of Tennessee football said in a press conference today he didn’t know about any “renegotiation” or problems with Nico till Thursday night. That’s after the report came out. Now if there were renegotiation going on don’t you think the coach would know? Or is the coach lying? Nico is in a pic at a coaches house Thursday night. That coach said he heard nothing negative from Nico that night. Was he lying? Don’t you think if there was a renegotiation going on that the position coach would know that. The coaches were all surprised that Nico didn’t show up Friday for meetings or practice. Were they lying about that too? Or were they unaware that there was a problem?
It doesn’t seem to me that any of this is as obvious as you seem to think.

Agreed.
We lost the entire defensive backfield and got better the next year. We lost the whole WR room last year and we appeared faster and more physical yesterday. The qb play yesterday was good too.

Let’s wait and see how the team responds before we decide it’s a dark day.
