Two years ago, when the article was first published and we first discussed it (yes, here, on these threads; yes, that very article) it sure was.

Today, not so much.

Then quit clicking on it 82. Dang, maybe there are others, like me that didn't know about it. So, bugg out.

This shows one major problem with our program. Too much football profit is being pumped into other avenues.

I know you're being funny, but don't we spend the most on recruiting (or at least near the top)?

Yes, and TN also paid players the highest cost of attendance in the SEC. Now perhaps there's a difference in "recruiting costs" and recruiting expenses and that's where AL is spending the money.

We know the negas are sure that our problems are all due to UT doing everything on the cheap - but it just ain't so.

In before "that's an old article" but I'm to lazy to look for an updated one so I'm not going to really add value to this post.

Note: Did you see where Bama is est. to spend 7 million mor that us? And, we are estimated with the second highest expenditure.

I'm not that concerned about the age of an article - it's all relative if it's fairly recent. Besides a lot of the stuff has to do with when data are released - whether financial or crime statistics - like when UT was being hung out to dry on Title IX charges yet rated far down the list for campus crime.

I took the first column to really represent the COA for football players and the second column to be the total paid across all sports. That would make the second column very dependent on the number of athletic scholarships awarded - not just football - and dependent on the number of athletic programs. I just don't think that UT is cutting cost corners on attracting football players whether it's facilities, recruiting, or scholarship costs (meals, COA, etc).

I did miss the part about AL outspending us. If it's on all costs, certainly they are paying a lot more for staffing. Saban alone counts for a few million more, and AL has been stocking up coaches as "non-coaching" staff. If the NCAA and SEC don't step in, the "non-coaching" coaches are going to be the next football arms race; AL just pulled another OC out of the closet when Kiffin left - nobody else appears to have that luxury.
