Last year’s Tennessee-Alabama matchup aired on CBS, which included an unranked Vols team against the one-loss Tide. So naturally, this year’s game would have even more importance. Both the A&M and Alabama matchups could be previews of the SEC Championship Game should the Vols win the SEC East.
It also helps that Florida-Tennessee was the highest rated college football game of the weekend.

You have to think Butch Jones and his staff will love all this attention on the program. Four consecutive weeks in the SEC’s biggest television slot should aid in recruiting and help the Vols’ ranking through a tough schedule.

Going to get all the Gary and Verne we can stand these next few weeks lol

If us and Bama are both undefeated I really want it to be a night game in Neyland. That would be pure insanity.

If Tennessee makes it to Alabama undefeated the SEC will be wrecked and this team will truly be hard to beat even more so than they are now.

If we are both undefeated, Alabama and Tennessee will be a night game on ABC.

Isn't there some type of clause in their contract where CBS can't cover the same team more than 3 teams in a season? Thought I had heard that. Regardless, if we make it through these next two games unscathed I don't see the Bama game being a 3:30 game. It'll be the 8pm game on ABC.

It will NOT be on ABC! When is the last time you saw 2 SEC teams play a regular season game on ABC....it was 1995. It would be ESPN if it is a night game.

Gary and Verne lol. "...that's not his best punt..." That's a quote from Verne about a Trevor Daniel punt that was downed inside the 10 yard line.

And it was 100% accurate until he got a nice/lucky roll. And he even acknowledged his mistake after the good roll.

An SEC game can't be the 8 p.m. game on ABC. The Virginia Tech game was a separate situation and wasn't a part of the SEC's contract. The Battle at Bristol was like a bowl game (with no home teams) so the organizers could sell their game to whoever they wanted and they sold it to ESPN for the 8 p.m. ABC time slot.

Games that are a part of the SEC contract, however, can only be on CBS, ESPN, ESPN2 and SEC Network (and I think some can still bleed over onto ESPNU). If ESPN were to have the game, they could shift Fowler and Herbstreit over to it on ESPN, but it can't be on ABC. And CBS will have first crack. And the limit for one team is five, not three. So it's gonna be on CBS.

There is, but it's five times and not three. Also UT-Bama would never be on ABC. CBS always has the first choice, ABC doesn't have the right to SEC conference games. They did for the Battle at Bristol and USC-Bama because it was non-conference.

Makes sense. Did not think about that. I thought for some reason it was 3 times. I just hope it's a night game.
