Tennessee Lady Vol News

Third I doubt you can find ten coaches that recruited very well in their first three to five seasons. Not Dawn, not Geno, not Tara, not Vic Schaeffer, none came close to doing as well as Kellie has done in her first three seasons at Tennessee. They did get it going from year four or five onward but not before that amount of time had past. So if you want to judge what Kellie has done going into year three then let's add all the other great coaches that didn't do as well as she has done. Don't use the Tennessee should sell it's self as an excuse that got burned to the ground in the years after Pat Summitt retired.

Vic signed 3 McD AAs in his first year at Texas plus Lattimore and got some solid players from JC and the portal. That's why ahead of Kellie.

People should remember that a 38-year coaching Legend is going to Sell itself more than the Name of the school. The name "Pat Summitt" was synonymous with women's basketball. It took Vic Schaeffer years to get a high school all Americans and that took winning at the highest level first. Dawn Staley the same thing and she was well known. Both had name recognition before they started getting the top recruits. Let's remember that both Jordan Horston and Tamari Key could have gone elsewhere without stepping a foot on Tennessee's campus but Kellie went to their homes and saved those two recruits. All the top programs including Uconn were after Jordan, so she had options.

But he had built an elite eight program at Miss St. over eight seasons there, then went to Texas. So he was a very well known P5 coach when he got to Texas. How did he recruit his first three seasons at State is the issue.

Exactly...Vic was an established elite coach, so it wouldn't take long for him to land top recruits when he switched to a different school. Same will be true for Kim, even though she's entering her first year at LSU. That's the risk that Tennessee took by hiring an unknown coach and who doesn't have a track record for success at previous stops. It's not that a new coach needs time to establish a recruiting pipeline; it's that a new coach like Kellie will need time.

So here we are again, like clockwork, where certain posters want to rehash the hiring of Coach Kellie. Their agenda is old.

Kellie is one of only 2 Coaches in NCAA history who have taken teams from 4 different schools to the NCAA Championship Tournament, a remarkable achievement. She was also the 2019 Coach of the Year. To say she is unsuccessful is ridiculous.

Recruiting for Tennessee compared to Missouri State required starting relationships with the top recruits in the nation, and when covid restrictions kept players and Coaches from in person visits, this benefitted the already established P5 Coaches who had already made personal contact with prospective players.

Still, Coach Kellie delivered a top 10 class for 2021, and an elite player for 2022. Our program is headed up due to Coach Kellie and her staff.

GO LADY VOLS!!!

If you have doubts about KJH's ability to be a top D1 coach, judge by the product on the floor. Year by year she has rebuilt and expectation of greatness. Year by year she has players show improvement in skill set and teamwork She has now reached the point where 'expert' prognosticators expect HER team to be a top performer in the toughest league in the country.

One thing I know from years of following WCBB, those who criticize typically are not aware of the incremental improvements taking place that are creating a better and better product.
