I can’t really say I hate Texas, at least not yet but I sure as hell don’t want them coming in heah and winning the SEC their 1st year .

IMO Dogs would not be below us if they lose SEC Championship. I prefer Dogs beat Texas (assuming they are in) and ND loses to USC. Look forward to going to a Playoff home game!

Do you think they would drop UGA below us if they lose the SEC championship? Would love to get a home game vs UGA for the first playoff game, not the easiest team to play, but I think we would win at home
I don't. They said they won't punish CCG losers.

The simplest path to hosting is Texas wins the SEC and USC beats Notre Dame.
Texas winning doesn't change anything for us. Notre Dame losing does. We'd move up to at least 8th.

Georgia is going to win the SEC and be the #2 seed when the dust settles. Mark my words.
They can't pass Miami unless Miami loses. You think Miami loses? They'd be the only competition to Georgia for the #2 seed.

A&M is going to beat Texas, then Georgia is going to beat A&M like a rented mule.
If that happens, we're seed 8.

It’s a loss in an extra game that they are only playing in because they beat us. Idk how they will handle it, but it is possible they wouldn’t penalize them
I don't expect much movement after the championship games. This next ranking after the last game of the regular season is the most important one. If Georgia beats Tech Saturday and then loses the SEC title game, then I can see the committee dropping them down to around 9 or 10, but not all of the way out of the playoff. The key is they are ranked high enough to absorb a loss and still be in play.

I think that nobody is going to know who is playing who, and where, until after this weekend's games and the conference championship games are played. Worrying about it until then is kind of pointless, imo.

Scenarios:

Currently, Vols are the 9 seed. If we beat Vandy, this is almost our floor, because it is very unlikely a team can jump ahead of us without a different team falling behind us (ie TAMU winning sec and Georgia and Texas remaining ahead of us).

1) Big Ten champ
2) SEC champ
3) ACC champ
4) Boise State
5) Big Ten champ game loser

Each of the following could move us up:
1) Jump a big ten team - About 20%
Penn state losing to Maryland -7%
Oregon losing to Washington AND Ohio State -8%
Ohio State losing to Michigan AND committee jumping Tennessee over Ohio State - 0.00%
Ohio state losing to Michigan AND Penn State losing to Oregon - 6%

2) Notre Dame loss to USC - 29%

3) Jump SEC team - 46%
Georgia loses to Texas - 46%

4) Jump second Big Ten team - 0.6%
Oregon loses 2, Penn State loses

Thus there is ~70% chance of Vols getting home field if we can take care of business this weekend.

And for those dreaming, the odds of the Vols getting the coveted 5 seed are about 0.05% (1 in 2000).

We need to concentrate on beating Vandy, Everything will work itself out if we beat Vandy. Don't need to count our chickens until we beat them. In my book, everything says we should beat them but this is not the Vandy of old. Fortunately we have the best D, and let's not run Sampson into the middle 10 plays in a row. We need him healthy down the road

They’ve had a 4th quarter lead in every game and haven’t lost by more than one possession. They definitely could beat Notre Dame.
Kinda feels like the Auburn/TaM game, where upset was pretty obviously there if they just didn't kill themselves w/ turn overs...feel the same here w/ this game. Seems like a very possible win for USC.

In all likelihood I don't think either team would drop below us, especially UGA. Only scenario I see where we would jump is if Texas was to get obliterated. At that point Texas would have then lost 2 games to the same team and honestly not have a "marquee" win to fall back on. I believe multiple scenarios still exist where we could host, but first and foremost is taking care of Vandy on Saturday.

Texas gotta beat A&M first. Perfect world is A&M man handles Texas and then they lose the SECCG to UGA by 14+

This. In addition, any losses Texas or UGA will have going forward are “better loses” than Arkansas. Vols v Texas both having two losses, Texas losses would both be ranked opponents. Same with UGA… I believe only way Vols pass them is a Georgia Tech loss. And As others have said, I don’t think they would punish a 3rd UGA loss if it’s to Texas. Maybe they would just make them go to neyland in the 8 v 9. However, may be hard to justify that if both UGA and Vols finished 10-2 in regular season with a head to head.

Honestly. If texas loses one of last 2, I could see committee matching up the UTs bc
They didn’t play in regular season. Lots of football to play though.

How could they justify dropping TEX below us with their only loss being to UGA x2? They will say if we played UGA 2x, we would have 3 Ls.
Tennessee was in a one score game against UGA at UGA until the very end. Texas was dominated the entire game and the score was closer than reality and it was in Texas.
