Tennessee home game if Texas wins SEC?

I think either way we'll move into a home field advantage. I think Texas wins this weekend then Georgia beats them again next week. Texas falls behind us. I'm just going the cfp breaks up the big 10 vs big 10 match up along with the sec vs sec games in the first round.

Do you think they would drop UGA below us if they lose the SEC championship? Would love to get a home game vs UGA for the first playoff game, not the easiest team to play, but I think we would win at home
I think they would drop UGA below us in that scenario.

I also think we get a home game either way.

Ugaly beat the horns 30-15, they would have to do that again or worse for the horns to drop below UT.

Maybe.

Looking at the way this stacks up the screwed up thing is the big ten title. The winner of that looks probable to have the winner of Georgia and Tennessee in the second round. The loser would probably be the five seed and get Arizona St at home then Boise. I know which path I would rather have. Big Ten has set this up to have multiple chances at a team winning it all while the SEC kind of eliminates themselves. I know it will probably change some before playoffs

Dear Lord in Heaven, please don’t let them pair Indiana with Penn State. I’m falling asleep just thinking about it.

The simplest path to hosting is Texas wins the SEC and USC beats Notre Dame.
Agree. We will know how good Notre Dame is after this game since USC is talented.

I’d love to play @ South Bend.
I doubt it will happen but prefer this matchup over GA. We could end up playing @ Texas which would be interesting. With that said, I don’t think TN will host. Neyland would be rockn if we hosted.

I still think if UGA (likely) wins SEC, that TX drops below us especially if another blowout, and other than that, I'm not sure we need another loss, though it would help if ND lost or played a really tight game vs USC. What is required, IMO, is for Vols to solidly hand Vandy a loss, in the range of SC/Vandy game....like 28-7. Think that alone could justify being ahead of TX and/or ND.

How could they justify dropping TEX below us with their only loss being to UGA x2? They will say if we played UGA 2x, we would have 3 Ls.

I’ve stopped trying to understand the ranking rationale but think if they are thumped by TX and we win handily, it could happen. Who knows…part of my optimism for home field game 1 is my belief that the committee will have to figure out how to nudge another SEC team into playoffs, and if they do that, they’d want more separation between 10-2 Vols and a 3 loss SEC team…who knows…could be entirely wrong.
