Tennessee has the worst....

I’ve been a defender of him all season. But I agree, the experiment is over. I know we were young on that side of the ball but there was not much progression throughout the year. Also, how do you go the entire game without putting a spy on a qb who is killing you with his legs?
They thought he’d eventually just get tired. Turns out he was well conditioned.

One thing is clear. Tonight was a microcosm of this season. Vandy’s defense > than UT defense. And the offense was forced to score on every possession which obviously it didn’t do. Vandy held the ball for half the entire third qtr coming out of the break. That’s atrocious. Last year, the defense was good because we had elite depth at DL and McCoy. This year we had neither. And our LB play has been abysmal including Carter.

Changes need to be made on defense or next year is going to be further regression.

Senior leadership. Love our seniors but we didn’t seem to have that alpha that makes the teams chemistry.

I know he was hot and cold here but I would’ve taken a Jeremy Banks on this team any day. No one on that side of the ball to be a SOB when you need it to fire up the defense.

His scheme revived us because it allows you to be competitive with less talent. Now that we’ve gotten more talent, what are we seeing?
A different offense than what you saw then. They'd spread you to the hashes when he first got here and go tempo the whole game. Now it's some tempo sprinkled in and the numbers kind of dictate what you do offensively. Its the rhythm that gets all out of whack with it. That and teams know when they're going to run like tonight..

We also forget how to play offense at really critical moments too - especially in big game situations. Not sure if you can zero-in on one coach or position group (or what ever) with this team.

I don't understand why we can't play a complete 4 qtrs. Against Fla. we scored 0 the last half, today 7.

Well Arkansas may have a worse DC but they fired their staff. We do have one of the youngest defenses in the SEC so that might play a part.

Saw comments about offense. I think our running plays are unimaginative. Passing play calling is excellent when we have a good QB.

A team that is very imaginative in rushing offense is Texas A&M. A lot of rushing plays depend on having the blockers in the right spots to clear lanes and get open field. A&M seems very good at that (ironically, A&M's passing offense is unimaginative and could copy ideas from Tennessee).

I said after the OK game that I thought Heupel had lost his nerve. The whole team looked like they lost their nerve in the 2nd half. They were playing not to lose. Vandy was playing to win and it showed.

VU QB backed up all his mouthing this year. Lose 3 games at home this year, no top 25 wins. Shreveport bowl?
Independence bowl doesn't have an SEC bowl tie-in contract anymore. It's Big 12/independent vs used-to-be-Pac-12/C-USA/American team.

Tennessee is thick in the middle of the Pool of 6 Bowl games. The conference will place it in either the Reliaquest, Gator, Mayo, Music City, Liberty, or Texas Bowl.
