Tennessee gets no respect

The so called ESPN "conspiracy" is stupid.

I agree that they say some stupid things, and they have some dumb *cough, Lou Holtz, cough* people working for them, but if they were to go off air for good, I would be very upset.

Why forget Tennessee's rank and comment that a crappy team like Miss STate could beat TN and not comment on other crappy teams on their schedule?

Stupid? Have you forgotten trailer trash worked into a frenzy by their prized analyist? I'm just pointing to facts call it what you want, something is going on.

Stupid is such a strong word. And I did not say conspiracy you did.

It is a conspiracy, because every team in the country thinks ESPN hates them. Chris Fowler who made the comments about UT can make dumb statements, as does everyone else. Just because of that, I'm not gonna say ESPN hates us.

And who knows why they didn't say anything last night, but Tennessee gets as much coverage as any other team ranked around them.

Tennessee had two College Gameday shows last year, they open up the season on ESPN / ABC again, and if you have been watching ESPN today, they have gave Tennessee plenty of coverage.

ESPN loves the top 10 and that's about it. When Tennessee is in the top 10, there is plenty of material on them to be found. Otherwise....not so much. And I can say that after honestly comparing different seasons.

The national media has pretty much just gotten together and had one big Chappelle's Show style Player Haters Ball against Tennessee all week long. I'm surprised Lou Holtz didn't get up from the ESPN desk and proclaim, "I'll now be taking my throne, cause I'm a shoe-in for Hater of the Year." HATE! HATE! HATE!

That's fine though, if they won't give us respect, we'll just have to take it tommorrow night. Now if you'll excuse me I'm gonna go put some water in Nate Longshore's mother's dish.

I dont think it is. I dont think ESPN/ABC have anything against UT personally...I DO think it would not be in their best interest to brag about the SEC teams when they are showing PAC 10, BIG 10 & BIG 12 games all day...people would tend to gravitate to CBS to see the SEC teams.

Conspiracy against UT? NO. Not wanting people to turn off ESPN or ABC? YES

I wouldn't, they have degenerated into a hype machine. I live in CT, so i hear about Sox/Yanks year round, i don't need a dedicated 10% of a program about the AL East. Now they force feed NCAA football, not that we need it, but they try to force it down the throats of those who don't care, to the point of annoyance.

And MLS, and the WNBA, and Poker. They try to convince people that they should care about things that they couldn't care less about, it's sad that the average fat lazy American buys into it.

I saw that also and thought what stupid people to predict that game and outcome and to even think that MS would upset the Vols.

I saw that too. My impression was that, in showing the rest of Miss State's schedule, they were looking for potential wins to get Miss St. to 6 for bowl eligibility. The commentators were saying that there were only two or three gimme games, and the rest of the wins would have to come from the SEC, and the commentator marked TN as a potential win mainly because it was out of division and on the road. I don't think he "picked" Miss St. I agree, its crap and wishful thinking even doing that, but I think its not so much of intentional bias as it is apathy towards TN. Outside of our fan base, there is nothing for anybody to get excited about, rightly or wrongly.

Who said ESPN gave Tennessee it's fair share of respect is out of their mind. During the LSU game last night the announcer showed a listing of the remaining Miss. State schedule and commented on how hard it was. During this commentary they displayed the Miss State schedule and one of the announcers said something to the effect that Miss State is going to have a hard time picking up a win with their schedule and further stated that they would have a good chance of beating Tennessee and in the same breath commented on some team (that sucks) I cannot recall at the moment saying this (unknown) team is much improved blah, blah, blah. And I should further note that the listing of the remaining Miss State schedule displayed several ranked teams with their rankings listed beside the school like LSU (2). I found it remarkable that they failed to post Tennessee's rank of 15.

Mistake? I don't think so.
Mississippi St. is terrible...they couldn't beat South Panola High...there is no way they beat UT..No Way!

The three idiots on sunsports all just picked Cal...They said that Tennessee is going to have to win some games and prove themselves before they believe in them... :eek:lol:
What do we have to do to get respect...We may loose but how could the teams be that different from last year that Cal is now going to kill us???????The Gators lost everyone and they still have them winning it all in the SEC and maybe NC....We loose a few guys on defence and our top receivers and :flush: they suddenly put us in the toilet...:flush:

I think it's plausible to pick Cal . . . but it is amazing how everybody has developed amnesia with regard to what happened the last time we met. No doubt the environment had something to do with it, but last year's beatdown is almost universally being considered a fluke.

It was the same crap last year. When we beat them down again this year will it be a double fluke? Is there such a thing?

If Cal wins, this board may need to shutdown for a few days until everyone cools down.

If UT wins, it will be a good night.
