Tennessee football uniform history

I found this very interesting. I didn't realize the Vols wore black jersey's from 1911-1920. Also, if we come out in orange helmets Saturday night, it won't be the first time. Looks like they wore orange painted leather helmets from 1931-1934.

The 1971 and the 1903 are my favorites.

I've said this in another thread, but I also want to point it out again. The majority of our sports teams wear Black uniforms on a fairly consistent basis. Besides football and basketball, I believe all the other "sports" wear them. Baseball, soccer, softball, even tennis and swimming teams (are we still saying those are sports?)

I kinda like the 1963 uniform but they only lasted one season. Other than that it's only orange and white for me.

Yes, it was colder back then and everything was black and white....I have pictures to prove it.
