Tennessee has been running the same offense for 25 years and therein is the problem. UT no longer has the tough physical athletes to play smash mouth FB against the good FB teams. For instance take a good look at the Offensive lines at Wisconsin/Minn./USC/Calif/Tex to just name a few - UT's OL doesn't come anywhere near to matching up. The Vols haven't had a great RB since 2001 and the same can be said about the WR position as well. Opposing teams no longer fear UT's offense and certainly don't fear or respect it this season.

There was a time and not long ago either when Tenn rarely lost at Neyland; in fact from 1989 - 1999 the Vols were 72-5 at Neyland. However from 2000 thru Oct 8, 2005 the Vols have already lost 10 games at Neyland and this decade isn't even half over. There are definite problems in this program that CF had better get fixed in a hurry or else UT will fall into the category of 2nd tier FB programs. Make no mistake about it this team isn't an elite program at present, not a top 10/15 or even 25 team as things now stand.

As a long time Vol fan/supporter of 50 years here's hoping CF makes the right changes that will get this program back to the elite status it was in the 1990's.

Come on, not a top 25 team. We have 2 losses to 2 teams ranked in the top 11. One of which can give anybody a run for their money (Ga). We lose two games and the season is lost? I admit we have problems. I have addressed them in another thread but let's see if this TEAM can start playing like a TEAM. I trust the seniors to get it together. I refuse to be negative about this seasons hopes. If we get it going, we can end up with the LESS losses than last season. Ye of little faith, give us hope :D

Cronyism? If staff are not getting it done and they are still retained what else are you going to call it. If it's not cronyism, then you don't know how to get it done. So maybe the change needs to be at the top. $2 million of our tax dollars every year better get it DONE! If the Governor was doing the same thing he would be impeached!

does it really make that much difference if we finish 3rd or 4th in the SEC east? I mean who has ever looked back on a season finishing third in your division as a good year?? This season is a bust, maybe we run the table and finish 8-2, we still end up behind Georgia and Florida in the east. I dont see anyone realistically expecting the team who showed up on saturday against Ga beating the team that blew out Florida. I'll watch and still hope we win, but we are playing for nothing but pride now. This season is another wait till next year....

No Way! I could take alot of satisfaction from beating Bama and paying ND back for last year. And if UT winds up in the Music City Bowl at least I won't have to drive very far to see the game. :cross:

My main point was that we ARE a top 25 team. You have to give our defense the credit for that. You are not ranked just on offense alone. And yes, finishing behind Fla and Ga would be upsetting, but finishing up strong allows us to carry something into next year. And without pride, we have nothing so hell ya let us go and play FOR pride and WITH pride.

I'm not giving up but merely being realistic. Do you honestly think that an offense that scored 7 points on Fla and seven - defense really got the 1st 7 - on UGA is going to score enough to beat Bama - if they score at all - and Notre Dame? The only way UT beats Ala is if it is a 1990 game in which nothing but field goals are registered. I hope the Vols do beat them but as I said I'm being realistic. AFA UGA I can name you at least 5 college teams that would put their lights out and run them completely out of the stadium.

Go for it. 5 teams that could beat them. With the roll that they are on now. Well not only beat them, but put their lights out. A top tier SEC team, no way.
