You got to be kidding me right? The fans deserve better?

This teams deserves better. They've put in a lot of hard work, time, and energy into this season. But guess what? It just hasn't happened for them. Crucial mistakes in big moments, hey it happens we've all made a few.

Do I think we can be a little better coached? Yes. Something is missing, like a mental block.

Can Dooley be the one to correct that? Maybe but maybe not. But don't sit here and talk about what the fans deserve. We don't even sell the stadium out unless 40% is in crimson color. So no the fans don't deserve anything. I'm not saying don't be mad about the loss, I'm saying get off this "we deserve it cause we watch it on tv"

One of the best post I have read on this board.

Hart needs to go with his guns blazing and check book open and show U.T. Football is prepared to make a huge commitment to a Carroll, Gruden, Petersen, Patterson, Chip Kelley, Stoops, Sumlin, Strong, etc. kind of hire and now....hell Del Rio too.

With Texas, Auburn, Arkansas, and Kentucky going coach hunting more than likely...we do not need to be left behind yet another season again. Any of those coaches named would be undefeated or possibly with just one loss with our players.

We are now on Kentucky Football status in the SEC now....KENTUCKY! Even Missouri, Ole Miss, and Arkansas have a better SEC record than us.....F'n terrible

Tennessee has for the last decade+ had a group of unrealistic, pessimistic, unknowledgeable, obnoxious, fans that is bigger and louder than any program in the country. If anything the team deserves better fans. I have seen this fanbase absolutely tear apart players, coaches, media, anyone with anything to do with UT Football for the most asinine reasons year after year. Fair criticism is fine, but to watch people who have never even thought about competing at anything at a high level tear down people like many vol fans do is absurd. Dooley is a realist, many fans mistake that for excuses, not caring, etc. Stop acting like this is ******* Varsity Blues, where it is literally your life and nothing else matters.

Where did you expect us to be? Realistically, this was much worse than any common fan realized. Between the coaching changes, behind the scenes drama and player losses we started 2010 in a 3 year talent hole. Right now, we're still building the foundation? We're going out there without SEC talent 1 deep at some positions, we're barely SEC caliber 2 deep anywhere. 2015 puts us at 2 full recruiting cycles where we can have a 2 deep roster comparable talent wise to our opponents. UT has gone through a football great depression since 2008, a once in a lifetime hit. This happened at the worst possible time imaginable, considering how strong our league has gotten since 2008.

The coaching has had alot of faults, but if you can't see the marked improvement on offense and our defensive front 7 this year then you can't be helped. Consistency is always the last thing to come and we're turning that corner. It hurts now but we will be better for it. Realistically, TN isn't competing for SEC anything right now. Wins and losses are secondary as long as you keep it close and win the games you're supposed to. I'd rather build a program that has a solid foundation for the long term than give into the whims of a bunch of instant gratification hot heads. No matter who the coach is, 2015 is the earliest the gap is made up enough to compete week in week out to get to Atlanta. Focus on building a program and the rest will work itself out. Our team deserves better fans.

Quick question. Exactly how far up your arse is your head? The program exists for the entertainment of the fans you idiot. You think we search out great athletes and give them free rides through school so we can say we're generous? It's the fans money that funds the vast majority of everything the athletic dept. does. Yes, I know we have wealthy donors that give $15-$20 million a year, but the other $80-$85 million comes from the fans. All these programs attract attention to the school. Unfortunately, lately, the football program hasn't been the showpiece we'd like it to be.

What the fans deserve is the very best our university and our athletes can offer, week in and week out. With our funding, facilities, talent, and administration, I think the fans have a right to expect a better showing from the main athletic program representing our university.

Whether you are for or against keeping Dooley, as a fan, I think we have the right to be disappointed in the results so far this season. Still love the team (no homo), love my alma mater, and will wear my orange proudly. When the fans don't expect better, and feel like they deserve better, that's when you become Kensucky or the commode doors.

Fans generate revenue for the university and Football is the largest generator for UT sports. When it suffers so does the funding for all other UT sports. Also it hurts the local economy here in Knoxville.

We all believe the players deserve better...no question about it. But all of the VolNation that spends their hard earned money on gear, tickets, donations to the athletic department, traveling expenses from long trips to watch the Vols put a mediocre product on the field every week......yeah the OP is correct bro.

The fans deserve the teams best effort. And they got exactly that. Nobody "deserves" to cheer for a winning team just because they are used to success. Just be glad tennessee will be back winning games sooner rather than later. The refs were poor today if you ask me. And we blew it in the first half AGAIN! We just can't put 4 quarters of even descent defense together.

I'll agree with the OP and disagree with your post DL. The fans travel, the fans pay the tickets, the fans by the merch, the fans donate to UT and what we've been given is a second rate coach, lackluster effort and second to last place in the SEC. So yes, I agree the fans deserve better and I believe we have every right to demand better.

The fans deserve better than what we are getting from a coach that is compensated $2.6M a year. As a ticket holder, alumnus and long time donor, there is no excuse to have our program at the bottom of the SEC with our facilities and fan base. We have the third largest stadium in the country and I can't stand to think of it only Half full due to an incompetent coach . Things must change immediately. There is not time for any more " one more year" crap.

You are right but you are also wrong. Half the fans on this board deserve nothing. They call players and coaches every name in the book. Tenn would be much better off without that type of fan. I agree Dooley should be gone as many fans that love Tenn do but without the hatred that the others show.

Sure and Georgia fans egged and rolled Aaron Murray's house after GA lost to South Carolina. Then today GA beats FL. The South is and always has been passionate about football . Don't think that's going to change. Tenn fans sent a moving van to Bill Battles house in 1975.

This is true man but that isn't entirely the fans fault. Sometimes some fans forget that buying a ticket isn't a necessity but something you do for entertainment purposes. If a team is bad why spend your extra cash it doesn't make you a band wagon fan but that's a lot of people's reality. So if you want to see the staidium out with you fans put a good product on the field.

I completely agree with you on the idea of having fans that take things way too far. But, you're going to have that in any passionate fanbase. I agree with Dooley on this one point, you can't expect 102,000 fans in the stands supporting the team and then expect to get a pass when things go bad. I'd rather have a passionate fanbase then the opposite.

Lived in Orange County, CA for several years. They could shut down UCLA football tomorrow and no one would blink. If they shut down USC it would be forgotten in a year. Football just means more to people here.

Neverhteless, again, I agree that some of the things a small % of our fans say and do are absolutely unacceptable.

slow down a little, cupcake. some of us fans vote with our wallets, and fairly substantially. quite a bit different than punching a remote control, and with justified expectations.
