Just came across a pretty good article discussing the Greg Schiano debacle from last year. This article talks about the heat our fan base received from national media. It goes on to say that Ohio State fans are now protesting to keep Meyer, someone who knew about domestic abuse. It’s a good read and gives our fan base some deserved credit. There is also a nice jab at WVU in the article as well.

What does it Truly say about us Vol Fans now that Schiano can't even get an interim HC job where he is already a coach. To me personally, our protest of him was him overall as a person and the type of HC he has proved to be in his previous attempts. The person that Schiano is fits right in with Meyer's himself. Dirtbags is an understatement for these guys, and Zach Smith is no exception. Someone may need need to take a look at everyone on that staff. One bad apple really does affect the entire bushel.

Meyers' win/loss history is just a speck different from that of Schiano. Their fans sense a possible speed bump in their road to annual dominance. The hell with ethics, morality, players' rights, and the safety the rest of the student body and society in general when football wins are at stake. What fan base were we discussing? All of them?

I don't understand this at all. I do not like Meyer at all something about his demeanor and the way he presents himself really gets under my skin. But how can he be responsible for another man's actions away from work. I hope he gets run out of football just not like this. I would really like it to because he is getting his ass kicked.

Bet Schiano is wishing Urban hadn't protested in his favor so...vigorously during the UT debacle. Now he's associated with another scandal and cover-up.

How did it happen to Art Briles then, or Joe Paterno? All of these guys covered up bad things others inside their program were doing. Meyer should be fired but he may save his money when he notified his superiors of the domestic abuse situation.

The OSU fans still wanting to keep CUM are proof that winning is more important than morality if URB's knew about all of this. If CUM was a 8 or 9 win coach each year instead of a perennial contender, then I guarantee you that hardly any OSU fans would be in his corner. IF Brett McMurphy is right, then the AD at OSU should have cut ties immediately.

I think the fans at Georgia,Alabama and Clemson would be the same was it this were happening at their schools.

In one way I hate to say it, for most of my life people as a manager, neighbor, friend or what ever. This type of thing was thought to be "none of my, or our business". In the case of Meyer, if what I read is true, he reported it, beyond that it was not his place to do anything. If he fired the guy or any like action, look out, law suites would drowned him. He has a program to run, not a moral mandate to police the personal lives his coaching staff ( other than on the job). I think the contract with all coaches spell out their conduct, it's not for him to police other than report.

Look I'm just saying what if you and I work to gather and I saw you drive home drunk. You make it fine nobody hurt. But the next day I tell our boss and get you fired. Point is where do you draw the line in the sand. And just so you know I still hope he gets canned.

I think also the Big Ten is under big scrutiny here and is suffering from another bout of embarrassment after the Colossal MSU problem

I have admit to being far more upset about the fact that UT was hiring a losing NFL coach then I was about them hiring a pervert

...and Urban will probably keep his job...OSU = "win at any cost"...

GO VOLS!
I remember several times in the past that there would be some serious charges against a player(s) and they never set out for important games, just patsies. That's Urban

It's still absurd to me how we got berated by the national media. Their narrative was we cared about winning so much we were slandering a "good man." Which is a stupid narrative, because then they have to admit that Schiano is a crap coach.

In reality, most of us saw protesting Schiano as protecting our program. The Sandusky scandal combined with all the controversies in Tampa made it clear that Schiano was an awful choice from an ethical perspective. We've already been through a decade of misery. Hiring Schiano could've destroyed the program for several more. I watched through 2005, 2008, the Dooley years, and 2017. It would've been difficult for me to continue watching Tennessee football with Schiano on the sideline. I'd been ashamed to don Tennessee orange for the first time in my life. And I'm sure there are thousands of others who feel the same way.

We took a week of negative publicity to save ourselves from a decade or more of ruin. And it's BS we even had to deal with 'negative publicity' for rejecting an ethically-challenged coach. Glad there are a few in the media who see our side.
