Just read this before coming in here to see all the heuplah lol but glad to see us move to a night game in Knoxville . Also happy to be able to catch a whole game.
Sliding our opener to this Thursday primetime window gave us a wonderful opportunity for our football student-athletes to kick off their season in the national spotlight.
I guess I agree with that. It makes no difference to me, but I know a lot of people plan their weekends around the Vols and won't be happy about playing the game in the middle of the week.
Being a Thursday night season opener doesn’t mean the program has fallen off the earth or be compared to lower level conferences. We played App st in a Thursday night game with a top 10 team In 2016.
I think its a good move. It will be one of the few games on TV that evening. Hopefully it will be a full house, the Vols show up excited (something they havent always done recently) and put on a good show. Nothing at all wrong playing a Thursday night game to open the season. Wasnt the win in Louisville in 1991 a Thursday night game?
Not opposed to a Thursday night game to kick-off the season.
What I don't' like is the SEC Network coverage.
If you do Thursday night, you need to be THE GAME on that night on a major network...whole point behind a mid-week game is the exposure.
Might as well get max exposure by going to a national network.
Locals need to pack the stadium for this game. The O&W turnout was lackluster, but the weather wasn’t great and it’s just a scrimmage.
This will be (hopefully) a ton of these guys first chance to play in front of 102,455. It’s a night game against a pushover so tickets will be cheap. Take the family, find a friend who has never gone and take them. Let’s pack Neyland and start the new era off on a good note.
