Since the VOLS aren't bowling I thought maybe we could list our favorite UT bowl games and why.

My favorite would be the 1986 Sugar Bowl since we beat Miami as huge underdogs. Since it was #2 Miami and we beat them unexpectedly, I favor this one over the Fiesta Bowl a little.

I also have a request, does anyone a copy of the UT-Michigan game? My recorder screwed up that day and I have never seen that game.

The 1985 Sugar and 1998 Fiesta are untouchables in Vols' bowl history.

The Sugar really made it feel like UT was finally an elite program. The Fiesta was almost, dare I say, expected, after all the wins we had in the mid-1990's that led up to it.

We were David in the 1985 Sugar, but Goliath (a winning variety) in the 1998 Fiesta.

I guess that's why the Sugar Vols in 85 will always be one of the best. Another good one was the cotton bowl with Arkansas that was whoever had the ball last.

That '85 Sugar Bowl (actually it was Jan 1, 1986) will always be special to me. I was a senior in high school and my parents splurged and we took the trip to New Orleans for the game... my first ever bowl game. We didn't realize until we got into the stadium that our tickets were on the front row of the end zone... the end zone that 4 of the 5 Tennessee TD's were scored in. That was one amazing game. Tenn shocked the world that day... and Vinny.

Gotta go with that '85/'86 Sugar Bowl... the culmination of a fabulous season... and it was my freshman year at UT! :)

I've got that game on tape. I'll see if I can dig it up and a vcr. If I can find it, I will make you a copy and send it to you.

1990 Cotton Bowl is hard to beat, Quinn Grovey and Barry Foster drove the SWC nuts that year. If not for Carl Pickens' first half Int we probably wouldn't have won.

My favorite bowl game would have to be the 1968 Orange Bowl where the Vols were down big to Oklahoma when they had Heisman winner Steve Owens. The Vols scored 24 points in the second half and lost 26-24 when Karl Kremser's kick just missed. Second most favorite would be the '86 Miami victory! That was just an awesome display of emotion carrying a team to victory.

1986 Sugar Bowl. First time I can remember sitting down and watching a game with my grandfather, and the way we were underdogs going in with "no chance" and then beating Miami the way we did. I think that was when I became a Real Vol fan.

I love the 98 fiesta game of coarse, but one that sticks out 2 me is the 95/96 season when we shut down heisman winner eddie george at the 1 (and then he didn't vote 4 peyton because he couldnt beat florida even though eddie couldnt beat michigan :furious3:)

i thought even tho we were undefeated, we were still the underdog?

Aside from the '98 Fiesta, I'd have to go with the '91 Sugar Bowl. I had pretty much given up on the team but I kept watching knowing that it would be a long 8 months until I could see any more cfb. I don't know if that was the greatest bowl comeback in UTK history but it was probably the most exciting UTK bowl game fourth quarter I can recall.

most people were picking Florida State. That was the most electric atmosphere I've ever been a part of...similar to the excitement when my son was born...just not as many people watching. Because so many people & analyst picked FS, the whole stadium started chanting Coooorrrsoo, Coooorrrsoo, Coooorrrsoo after the game. I bet they played Rocky Top 100 times & it's great to be a Tennessee Vol broke out everywhere until the sun started to come up the next morning. I'll write my whole experience down one day for ya'll...heck of a week.

well my favorite have to be the one's I attended (with the exception of the ice bowl game against K-State):

1990 Cotton Bowl: First UT game I attended as a kid. My sister was in the band and we drove down for the game. Chuck Webb Baby!

1991 Sugar Bowl: I'll never forget the half dressed woman with Greg Amsler's name painted on her chest. Great Comeback.

2004 Cotton Bowl: Surrounded by Aggies fans, they were all singing Rocky Top before the end of the first quarter. Many Aggies fans coming in late gave there tickets away for free instead of coming in to watch their team get drilled.

2007 Outback Bowl: Surprisingly I made it to the game since I happened to be in Tampa working at the time. Some clients gave us awesome seats and it was a lot of fun. Berry's hit on the QB was the highlight and the Wiscy fans seemed to have a lot of fun.

I wish I could have made it to the 98 Fiesta Bowl...

The 85/86 Sugar for me was great. I just move to Florida mid year.

UF had the "best record" in 1985 but was on probation -- in 1986 they went 6-5.

I had a lot of UM grads in my neighborhood. Dominate game by UT. One I can watch over and over and I get to hear John Ward's play-by-play on the DVD.

That is really my first memory of UT football. I was 10. Stands out to me still

86 Sugar Bowl. Easy!
I am a HUGE FSU fan....always have been, so 98 was hard for me. Sorry!
Citrus Bowl Vs. OSU was great as well. What a fun weekend in Orlando.

On a personal note....... The Jan 1, 1994 game vs Penn State was great also. I was living in West Palm Beach and had tickets to both UT/PSU and Neb/FSU (Orange Bowl). I went with some friends to UT game, but since it was such a blowout....I left early and drove to Miami to the FSU game. Made it just before kickoff and not only watched my Noles win NC #1, but sat next to a beautiful girl. We went out the next night and 14 yrs later....still Married!!!!!

Thank God UT lost...or I would have stayed and partied all night!

That sounded bad....If Ut had won, I would have never meet the wife. That sounds better!
