His announcement comes just three days after the Vols offered him.
"For me and my family, we're over the moon," Gilbert told the Commercial Appeal. "I couldn't be more excited to be a part of that historic program. It feels like a dream come true."

He said he had been recruited by Tennessee for over a year. When they offered him to be a preferred walkon, he added he wasn't going to wait to accept.

"What they outlined to me is I'm going to come in and the spot's available to compete for the job," Gilbert said. "Right now, it's a preferred walk-on, but I think it's winner (of the starting job) gets the scholarship type of deal

This kid could be very special for UT..I know kickers aren't the focus of folks who follow recruiting. But I get the feeling he could wind up being another kicker in a long line of UT guys who make it all the way to the NFL, if he continues getting better at the rate he has so far...

Don't rule out some NIL money going to an instate kicker. They have lawyers, and sell wings, cookies, cars and T-shirts in Memphis too. Would not take a lot of deals to get college costs after Hope down a good bit. Memphis fans need to ping some in town companies and get them involved.

We aren’t going to waste money on a kicker that we could easily replace with another walk on kicker. It’s best saved for blue chip guys. He will get a scholarship if he wins the job anyway.

Possible but I don't have any idea who Carlos Reveis is

I am referring to the kicker who had a 60 yard field goal against Georgia Tech and the last letter of the alphabet does not work on my keyboard so that is why I use an s in its place.

I am talking deals like our TE got last year, or Fulky got from Pals. Nobody but Fulky going to get THAT money.
