they are saying this is going to be fulmer's worst recruiting year at tennessee. Fulmer said he is not worring about winning in feb. obviously he's not worried about winning in the months of sept-dec either. just had to put that frustration vent in there tonight, going to the bar later vol fans.

OK . . . Here's what "they" ACTUALLY said:

Over the years, few head coaches have closed the recruiting season the way Tennessee's Phillip Fulmer has.

He may need the best save of his career to avoid the lowest-rated class the Vols have signed since Fulmer took over in 1993.

There's a little difference in those two statements.

still the vols are pushing hard for nick stephens meaning we would still get a top 10 class if we get the guys who i named which we are the favorites for each one i said!

The attitude about this class is down because it doesn't look that good as it stands right now. The fact is that Fulmer should close well this year.....but the class won't be as good as last year's, which should be expected after this past season. Most of the higher rated guys we are in on are waiting until signing day or close to it to decide. This is much like the 2003 class where signing day really solidified it. It also seems like a little bit of time is helping recruits to forget about the bad taste from this past season. There's been A LOT more good recruiting news this past week than there was the past month.

very very true!! If you don't follow the recruiting very closely, then you would know that we have the potential to having one of his BETTER classes. Not as good as last year but it has the potential to be a top 10 class. and after what happend last year, can you really ask for more?

These rankings are all just peoples opinions with some more educated than others. Everybodies classes will have their share of "busts", maybe we will find a few more gems in the rough this year than normal. You never know until a year or two down the road.

I think everyone is blowing this WAY out of proportion. I know you want something else to bitch about after such a miserable season, but save us the negativity. It's well documented that the best players "on paper" don't necessarily translate into the best players on the field. Plus, we had a killer class last year that will just be starting to come of age this fall. One down year recruiting is NOT enough to wreck a program, especially when "down" means simply a non top-10 class. We will finish fine.

At this point, I just feel like there are bigger fish to fry.

Truth is Vols had a very bad football season and lower then average recruiting season. Agree with kiddiedoc that there are bigger fish to fry. Turn around the current team on the field and next year will bring back fresh players.

It's a crappy, rainy day in Nashville and the Mustain announcement made it worse. How can you say we are favored to get Brandon Warren when is is still a Fl. State commit? And as for the "5-star guy don't always pan out" argument all I can say is two star guys rarely turn into "franchise" players on BCS contender teams. The misery is creeping back in. I can't help it.

FIRE FULMER NOW!!!

i feel you hillbilly its time to break out the moonshine, and some good smoke. i agree with most that fulmer usually closes good, but this has been far from the typical year. hard to stay positive after that terrible effort on offense this year. we obviously need some playmakers and it appears we are not going to get them. :devilsmoke:
