1. I know this UNC-Asheville team sucks, but that was a really good performance on both sides of the ball by Tennessee.

2. The defensive intensity looks great. They look smarter on defense. I really am liking what i see on defense.

3. Scotty Hopson looks good, but I'll continue to hold judgment till I see him playing Kansas or Kentucky.

4. Cam Tatum is healthy and showing it. He looks really good and continues to impress me.

5. Good to see Renaldo Woolridge out there...not...

6. Skylar McBee is not an SEC-player at the moment. Maybe in the future, but not this year.

7. Melvin Goins isn't as bad as I thought, and he brings it defensively, but I don't know if he can cut it offensively in the SEC.

8. The rebounding still needs to improve. They still look a little lazy on the glass. Need to see more box-out.

9. They are getting more points out of there offensive sets, which sometimes looked just downright ugly last year. Hopefully we can still say that later.

10. Tennessee looked really great tonight. They did everything right. Defensively they have improved on the trying part, which is really good. Hopefully, they can keep up the intensity into the Paradise Jam.

Go Vols!!! :hi:

Whoever helped Scotty with his shot in the offseason needs a major raise or promotion. The evolution of his shot is almost as impressive as Brian Williams losing 300 lbs.

Is Renaldo really that bad?

He did fine for an 11th man. Made some big plays and had some dumb plays. He will continue to get better throughout the season. You can tell the athleticism and raw ability are there he just needs to be sculpted and harnessed by the coaching staff a bit. Not concerned about him at all.

Does anyone else think Renaldo's "rap career" hurts his views in the eyes of Vol fans? I'm not talking about the musical preference of the fans but how open he is about his new songs and such. When I see him on the floor and he makes a mistake I automatically think maybe if you would have been studying the plays instead of writing songs you may see the floor more often.

Once we start playing real competition, I expect the rotation to be whittled down to 9: Tyler, Chism, Prince, Maze, Hopson, Tatum, Goins, Williams, Hall. (Hall hasn't been stellar so far, but his size and physical presence are a must to eat some minutes for the grind of SEC play.) If Skylar can't drain wide-open 3's against Big South competition, I just don't see him seeing the floor against quality opponents unless it's mop-up duty. Woolridge is basically insurance against foul trouble and/or an injury. Pearl Jr. is now officially in Quinn Cannington/Mike Hubert territory, thankfully.
