Ten 5 Stars Recruits that were busts

Ryan P. could have been a college legend. Most of the story of Ryan has never been made public. As far as a QB, probably the most naturally gifted QB I have ever seen. The only word that comes to mind is Waste.

Seeing the Mitch Mustain lost the job at Arkansas to Casey Dick, whom I consider to be one of the worst SEC QB's in the past decade, is baffling.

We could just about field a team with 5 stars that have busted out or been booted from the team...

Bryce Brown
Demetrice Morley
Brett Venson
Chris Donald
Ben Martin
Janzen Jackson
Darrick Rogers
Kenny Oneal
Walter Fisher
Albert Toenia
Brandon Jeffries
Mondre Dickerson

Chris Donald and O'Neal are the biggest busts of that bunch...Brown produced in his one year and now plays in the NFL...Morley was in the CFL

I could be wrong but I thought Toenia came in with J Mahalona and was a two year starter and a good citizen.

Wasn't JT Mapu a 5 star? He was very average and seemed a little soft. I remember when we got him. He was supposed to be a beast of a DT but never really lived up to it.

I knew as soon as I saw this list Bryce Brown would be on it, but hey he fizzled right into the NFL. Not bad if you ask me. He was one of the reasons I won my fantasy league two seasons ago.

Of them all, I think JJ, DR, and Venson had the most talent.

Coincidentally, I think they each had the least amount of talent between the ears...at least while they were here, anyway.

The worst part of it all is Rogers is, IMO, unquestionably the most talented of that group and, while he may have acted like a 5 star talent with a 2 cent brain, he's no dummy. Dooley just gave him free reign over he team and staff--and it went straight to his, already TREMENDOUSLY inflated ego.

Now...he's been [slightly] humbled and has been paired with one of the best QB's in the world. If he keeps his head on straight, he can parlay that into one helluva NFL career.

I thought he lost the job to houston nutts ego

He did. All he did as a freshman starter was lead his team to the SEC West Championship (Im pretty sure they were undefeated with him starting, until the Championship). Then lost the SEC Championship against eventually national champ Florida because Reggie Fish fumbled a punt and Urban Meyer called and executed one of the most ballsy fake punts in history.

Interesting that Mustain was also Malzhan's ticket to the next level of coaching.
