I never thought I would see the day where UT fans are more excited about basketball than football in the middle of September. Thank you Bruce Pearl for giving us all some hope in the middle of our football nightmare. Bring on Temple!!!

My point is that 2 years do not make UT a bball school and completely replace football. You and I have both heard this kind of talk a few times.

I agree and football will always be king of every SEC school but Kentucky.

However there is nothing but apathy surrounding football and excitement around b-ball. For the short term basketball is a saving grace. It gives at least something to remain upbeat and proud of.

Oh, I agree. Football will never be irrelevant - people care too much. But UT fans are becoming equally hyped about bball now. Folks in kville tell me talk-show callers constantly are asking about the basketball program, even during football season. I don't ever remember that.

They were winning under Jerry Green, e.g., but I don't think they ever felt confident about where he was taking the program. There's no doubt UT bball is set up for a pretty strong run the next several years, and the fans believe it.
