I unfortunately (or fortunately?) had to miss most of the game due to work today, but I did get to go in during breaks and watch about 40 minutes or so, during the 2nd quarter.

After I got home, I was watching some ABC recaps, Doug Flutie was one of the panelists. The host asked the two guys what was most suprising to them today, and Flutie said "The way Florida just pounded..." And forgot Tennessee's name.

I cringed when I saw that.

Anyways, I want some recap.

NOTHING IN THIS THREAD ABOUT FULMER'S FUTURE. ONLY GAME-RELATED INFO

Thank you.

i will let others fill the details, but i think some of teh big factors were:
offense could not convert 3rd and short
could not run the ball
no vertical passing game

J/K

Inability to convert on third down

Could not run the ball

Couldn't stop Tebow

Tried to run the ball, still could not run the ball

Berry - 96 yard interception for TD

Brought it back to 20 to 28

Ainge/Foster fumble Florida recovers for TD

All over but the crying

momentum went to florida just a few minutes into the game. we go 3 and out to start the game, then florida runs a punt back. then we kick a field goal after being in a great position to score, then florida marches right down the field and scores, then we kick another FG after being in great position to score. florida scores 2 more TDs. tennessee gains a little momentum going into the half by going down and scoring. 28-13 at the half.

on florida's first possession of the second half, they drive the ball right down the field until eric berry gets a pick six for 95 years. tennessee forces a 3 and out on florida's subsequent possession. we have all the momo. then foster fumbles, florida runs it back for a TD, making it 35-20. all downhill from there and i don't feel like talking about it.

Basically, just revert to Jim Mora:

We couldn't do diddly poo offensively. We couldn't run the ball, we didn't try to the run the ball. We couldn't stop the run, we couldn't complete a pass. We suck.

Milo here is our playbook from today

Run middle, Run sweep
Pass to RB Left, Pass to RB right
Kick FG and do not pass farther than 8 yards.

The turning point or when I was pissed and left the bar....Foster/ Ainger whoever you want to blame fumbled away the game and a boat load of momentum right after the Berry TD and the defensive stand.

Running game, sucked. As Fine Vol said in another post they were trying to run sweeps with Foster.

Cutcliffe went to then endzone on a 3rd and 1 on the Gators 15. After saying all week how we were going to quit the girly stuff and bring it home.

Cutcliffe was down right outwitted, outmatched, and outplayed. I hope Charlie Strong came over and put out his torch just to stay with my Survivor theme.

Are we going to give up a punt return for a TD and a defensive TD against every good team we play this year? We are not good enough to overcome TD's when the defense is not even on the field....and on top of that the field position our kickoff team is giving away.... Can't run the ball, can't stop the run, our fumbles are run for TD's, we give up special teams TD's and the game is played on our end of the field....NOW I ASK YOU - DO WE HAVE A FREAKIN CHANCE?

I've said it time and again over the last 4 or 5 years. Your special teams cannot cost you points. We will always have a net loss on special teams the way Phil and crew are running things...and that's hard to overcome.

I don't remember the exact stats but the chances of winning a football game when you give up a special teams td are very very low.

Speaking of that... I think people may have forgotten since we hammered Georgia 51-33 last year, but If I'm not mistaken, they returned two at least last year in that game for TD's. So we have that to look forward to in a couple of weeks.

Yep, Mikey Henderson of UGA took one back....and also our red zone defense is a turnstyle - once a good offense gets the ball inside the 20 on us we might as well just let em have it.....

Mikey Henderson has like 130 plus return yards.

General Neyland and George Cafego are rolling over in their graves....special teams were once a source of pride and a difference maker in games throughout the history of our program....well it still is a difference maker- in the negative sense

Tebow made sweet love to us. He got up in the middle of the night and didn't say good bye. And instead of leaving money on the nightstand, took all the money already there. We woke up the next morning with a bad burning sensation. Thanks Tim Tebow.
