Notre Dame has the best recruiting class in the nation, just lost to Navy, more than likely will lose their HC.

Tennessee, decent year, not great by any means, great tradition like Notre Dame, and yet, our class looks like hell.

I'm not sure how UT's class "looks like hell" compared to ND's when ND is 1-8 and UT is 6-3

What makes you think Weiss is out at Notre Dame after this year?

Yeh I'm referring to this years recruiting.

I think Charlie Weiss is gone because ND cares about winning just as much as we do

I think he's referring to this year's class being recruited.

I was responding to the statement that they would "more than likely lose their HC."

They extended his contract through 2015, so if they let him go, I assume they'll have to fork over his salary for the next 8 years...I'm not sure they can come up with that kind of buyout...I think he's there for at least a few more seasons.

ND just gave him a 10 year extension. He will be there after this year.

He shouldn't....

But he will.

My best answer is that CPF appears to only recruit good classes every other year, or perhaps every third year. I can't remember the last time he put together two strong recruiting classes consecutively.

It was the stupidest thing I've seen in a while. A 3 year extenstion would have been a better option for them and they could buy that out a lot easier.

Yeah, they were in a bidding war against themselves. It wasn't like there was any more competition out there ready to scoop him up.

So, this makes no sense. How do they have the best class in the nation this year?

Do these guys wanna lose?

I wouldnt worry too much about our recruiting class yet.

1. Fulmer, Spurrier and good recruiting coaches usually start pulling in people within the last couple weeks. Most coaches also are dealing with the current season and will come on strong afterwards.
2. Recruiting rankings are biased. Landing a Manning like QB will put you in the top ten regardless of most everyone else you pull in.
3. UT will not rank high this year Because I believe (hope) Fulmer and Co. are going to go after Lineman very hard and you dont get high scores for that.
4. A lot of recruits look for immediate play time, which you will get at Notre Dame. Not much chance at UT

although there are exceptions to the rules. i.e Florida loading up on 4/5 star QB's last year knowing Tebow was going to start and if he did well wouldnt see the field for three years at least. So we (or somebody else) may actually get some transfers from classes like that.

This recruiting talk got me thinking. How 'bout this scenario, if the pieces stay in place I believe this will happen....

1.Notre Dames Evan Sharply finishes out the season as the starter.
2.Sharply, Clausen and Crist battle it out for next season
Clausen comes in second string
3. Tennessee still has Cut around
4. Clausen transfers to UT
