On UT sports, Tee Martin's birthday is being celebrated with a replay of UT vs Syracuse 1998, with the perfectly wonderful John Ward doing the play by play to the video. Absolutely terrific. John Ward was the best----ever. "The Vols to the line" Simple stuff made artsy by the smooth tone of Ward. Enjoy.

Especially you young fans------listen to the master.

Hearing his voice has the effect of smelling my grandmother's fried pies. Just that voice takes me back to a thousand childhood memories.

I nwent to three games that year. Syracuse in the dome, Arky. at home (thank you Stoner) & the Fiesta Bowl. What a year & I picked the three best games, excitement wise!!!!!! How I miss those times G.B.O..

It's a shame that so many younger Vol fans completely missed out on John Ward. Not just football but he was incredible doing basketball games as well. I hate to mention Kesling in the same post but last year my only option for one game was radio and I listened for 9 football minutes before he gave the score of the game. Sadly the only rumbling, bumbling, stumbling now is Kesling calling a game.

John Ward was the best college play by play announcer ever. I have heard a good share, alot of people would argue that Keith Jackson was the best, but when you mute the TV and watch and turn on John Ward to listen to, it was like you were actually there. He had so much energy, excitement and feeling in his announcing.

Cmon man, go to the home. Scroll down the page. Look on the left side. See the articles from the media; ie scout, KNS, UT Sports. It is right there. Go Go.

Look at the top of this page. See home? Click. That's all.

I clicked on that link and it takes you to the T-Martin 3min 58sec interview. I don't see the Syracuse game anywhere.

When I was a little boy John Ward WAS UT football....UT was only on tv once or twice a year so listening to the radio was all you had. I liked Bill Anderson too.....always sounding like he'd had a 5th before the game....It was a sad day when they decided to call it quits....my buddy teared up on me at the '98 KY game when they announced it.
